Flying Returns Refunds

Need help with the refund policy on your Flying Returns points? Refer to the answers to the frequently asked questions.

If you send a refund request, on an unused award ticket more than three days before date of departure, 80% of your Flying Returns points will be refunded. The remaining points will be deducted as cancellation charge. 

You will not get any refund if you cancel an unused award ticket less than three days before date of departure. It will be considered a no-show and your points will be deducted as a cancellation charge.

Please keep the following in mind when it comes to such refunds:

  • The three days do not include the date of departure.
  • Non-airline taxes are refundable. 

No, the coupon fee of INR 1000/USD 12 charged on your award tickets on a Star Alliance carrier will not be refunded. Please note, this coupon fee is not applicable on Air India award tickets.

The recredited Flying Returns points will be valid for 365 days beginning from the day they were originally credited. Read the points below to know more: 

  • The Flying Return points redeemed for the ticket will be re-credited (where applicable) to the Flying Return account.  
  • Points will be credited to the original validity bucket. 
  • Only unexpired points on the date of processing refund will be returned to the account.  

To ask for a refund on your award tickets, please follow the applicable point below 

  • Passengers must contact the ticket issuing office to get a refund on the award tickets.
  • For tickets issued at Air India booking office, please visit the same office to request a refund. 
  • For tickets issues through Air India’s website or mobile app, please send an email from your registered email id to ecommerce@airindia.in.
  • For tickets issued through the Air India call centre, please send an email from your registered email id to contactus@airindia.in.
