Mobile Check-in

Any passenger with a confirmed Air India ticket can check in using the app.

No, you do not have to register. Any passenger with a confirmed ticket can use the app for check-in.

Once you have installed the app on your mobile, select the ‘Check-In’ option and fill in the required information to complete the check-in process.

Yes, you can use the app to check for all domestic and international flights. Mobile check-in services are not available for codeshare flights.

You can check in 48 hours before and up to 90 minutes from the time of departure. Once you check in, we’ll send a confirmation and your boarding pass to your email. Your airport reporting time will be included in the email.

You can complete check-in for up to nine passengers at a time using the app. Just add the PNR number and the last name as it appears on your ticket to the ‘Add Trip’ tab. You may have to check in group or family members one at a time.

Yes, infants booked along with adults in a single booking can be checked in using the PNR number.

No, only passengers without any special requirements can check in through the app.

Yes, you can select your seat of choice while booking the ticket or during the check-in process. You will be able to see all available seats on our seat map, except preferred seats like those closest to the emergency exit. These seats are prepaid and can be selected at the time of booking through the website, call centre, or at the booking office in your city.

The emergency exit row seats are not available for the following passengers:

  • Pregnant women
  • Families travelling with children under 15 years of age
  • Senior citizens
  • Passengers with disabilities

For more information, please visit the seat selection page.

Yes, you can check in for multiple flights using our app. But if you’re travelling on international flights that fall under numbers AI 010 to AI 399 and AI 900 to AI 999, the mobile check-in facility will not be available.

If you are travelling within India, you will be issued a boarding pass. Passengers travelling out of foreign stations on Air India flights are generally issued a boarding pass.

Passengers travelling internationally or on a domestic segment followed by an international flight may receive a confirmation slip. If you receive a confirmation slip instead of a boarding pass, please bring the confirmation slip to the airport check-in counter on the day of your departure.

Confirmation slips are issued to passengers travelling on international flights from India. A confirmation slip helps our staff complete the required verification of your travel documents at the check-in counter. If all the documents are in place, you will be issued your boarding pass.

Passengers departing from an international airport on Air India flights are generally issued a boarding pass. However, if there is a mismatch between the booking name and the passport name, a confirmation slip will be issued, which must be presented at check-in.

No, you need a boarding pass to board the flight. The boarding pass will be issued after you present the confirmation slip at the check-in counter.

You will receive a boarding pass in PDF format via email after check-in. The details will also be under ‘My Trips’ in your app.  You can either carry a printed copy of your boarding pass or show the booking or check-in details on your mobile along with a valid ID at the check-in counter.

For international flights, you will receive a confirmation email only. You will receive your boarding pass at the airport. According to Indian government guidelines, it is mandatory that you carry a physical copy of your boarding pass.

At airports that support 2D boarding passes, travellers can scan the 2D pass received on their mobile.

Use the dedicated baggage drop counters to complete all check-in formalities at the airport. These counters close 45 minutes before departure for domestic flights and 60 minutes before for international flights. We recommend you reach these counters well in time to complete check-in formalities without delay.

Yes, you can reverse your check-in at the airport or contact an Air India call centre for assistance.

Please allow 15 minutes after completing check-in for your boarding pass to arrive in the inbox of registered email address. Please also check your junk email folder. If you still have not received it, please contact our customer support team.

Please ensure that you have entered the last name as it appears on your ticket.

Air India provides a 6-character PNR (booking reference number).

The rules for airport entry are maintained by government agencies. According to existing norms and regulations, passengers are required to carry a photo ID and a copy of their e-ticket and boarding pass to enter the airport.
