Mr. N. Chandrasekaran serves as Chairman of the board of Tata Sons, the holding company and promoter of more than 100 Tata group companies with aggregate annual revenues of more than USD 150 billion. He also chairs the Boards of several group operating companies.

Mr. Chandrasekaran’s appointment as Chairman of Tata Sons followed a 30-year career at Tata Consulting Services, leading global IT solution and consulting firm, where he rose through the ranks to become the CEO and Managing Director. 

Since he has taken over as Chairman of Tata Sons, Mr. Chandrasekaran has been driving transformation of the group towards digital, sustainability and supply chain resilience. The group has forayed into new businesses including electronics manufacturing, semiconductor, EV battery manufacturing, consumer internet platform, and mobile technology for 5G. The Tata group has expanded its aviation presence with the acquisition of Air India and is building a large global airline.

Mr. Chandrasekaran was conferred with the Padma Bhushan, one of the highest civilian awards in India, in the field of trade and industry in 2022. The French Government conferred him with Légion d’Honneur, the highest civilian award in France for his outstanding business successes and decisive contribution to strengthening Indo-French economic ties. President Eisenhower Global Award for Leadership, was conferred to him in 2022 by the Business Council for International Understanding. He has been awarded several honorary Doctorates by leading Universities in India and abroad.

Mr. Chandrasekaran is the Co-Chair of the US India CEO Forum. He is the Chairman of the Society and Board of Governors of the Indian Institute of Management, Lucknow, Member of International Advisory Board of Singapore Economic Development Board, Singapore, Member of Court of Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, Member of the Board of Governors of The New York Academy of Sciences, Member of International Advisory Committee of Mitsubishi Corporation India Private Limited, Member of Global Navigation Board, The University of Tokyo, Member of Robert Bosch International Advisory Committee, Director of BOAO Forum for Asia as well as a member of Inaugural Investment Advisory Council of the Supreme National Investment Committee of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Mr. Chandrasekaran is also the author of Bridgital Nation, a groundbreaking book on harnessing technological disruptions to bring Indians closer to their dreams. He is an avid photographer and a passionate long distance marathon runner.

Chandra joined the Board of Tata Sons in October 2016 and was appointed Chairman in January 2017. He also chairs the boards of several group operating companies, including Tata Steel, Tata Motors, Tata Power, Air India, Tata Chemicals, Tata Consumer Products, Indian Hotel Company and Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) – of which he was the Chief Executive Officer from 2009-17.

Tewolde Gebremariam is the Chief Executive Officer & Managing Director of Air India.

Mr Gebremariam brings more than four decades of airline industry experience spanning airline operations, commercial management, airport services, cargo, maintenance and engineering, training, and corporate leadership. He has built a reputation as a transformational leader, having successfully led large-scale growth, complex organisational change, and crisis management in some of the most challenging operating environments in the world.

Prior to joining Air India, Mr Gebremariam served as Group Chief Executive Officer of Ethiopian Airlines Group from 2011 to 2022. During his tenure, he led one of the most remarkable growth stories in global aviation, transforming Ethiopian Airlines into Africa's largest airline group.

Mr Gebremariam also spearheaded significant investments across the aviation ecosystem, including the development of Africa's largest cargo terminal, aviation training university, maintenance and engineering facilities, catering complex, pilot training infrastructure and airport expansion projects.

He is particularly recognised for his leadership through periods of global disruption, including the SARS, MERS, Ebola and COVID-19 crises, as well as the Boeing 737 MAX grounding. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Ethiopian Airlines was widely acknowledged for maintaining profitability and operational resilience while continuing to serve critical cargo and humanitarian missions across the world.

Following his tenure at Ethiopian Airlines, Mr Gebremariam served as Senior Strategic Advisor to Delta Air Lines, based in the USA, advising on international business with regional focus on Africa, the Middle East, India, alliances and cargo. He has also served as Senior Strategic Advisor to the International Finance Corporation (IFC), part of the World Bank Group, advising on aviation and logistics investments in emerging markets with focus on Africa.

Over the course of his career, Mr Gebremariam has held a number of leadership positions within the global aviation industry. He has served on the Board of Governors of the International Air Transport Association (IATA) for several years, been a member of the Chief Executive Board of Star Alliance, served on the Board of Directors of SITA, and held leadership roles with several aviation, tourism and infrastructure organisations.

Mr Gebremariam joined Ethiopian Airlines in 1985 and rose through the organisation from operational roles in cargo and airport services to regional leadership positions in India, Saudi Arabia and North America, before serving as Chief Operating Officer and subsequently Group Chief Executive Officer. His extensive international experience includes a posting in Mumbai, where he led Ethiopian Airlines' business across India and South-East Asia.

He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from Addis Ababa University and an MBA from The Open University, London. He is a father of five children.

Sanjiv Mehta

Mr. Sanjiv Mehta joined the Board as Non-Executive Independent Director from 9 March 2022.

Mr. Sanjiv Mehta, a consumer-focused executive with four decades of extensive senior leadership and global operational experience, was the Chief Executive Officer & Managing Director of Hindustan Unilever Limited (HUL), India's largest 'fast-moving consumer goods' Company. During his ten years at the helm of HUL, the market capitalization of HUL increased from USD 17 billion to USD 75 billion, making HUL one of the most valuable companies in India. Mr. Mehta continues to be the President Commissioner (Non-Executive Chairman) of Unilever Indonesia.

Mr. Sanjiv Mehta was the President, currently, Member – Executive Committee of Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Director on the Indian School of Business Board, member of the Breach Candy Hospital Trust, and South Asia Advisory Board of Harvard Business School.  

Mr. Mehta was conferred the honorary degree of ‘Doctor of Philosophy in Business Management by Xavier Institute of Management, ‘Best CEO Multinational’ by Forbes, the ‘Business Leader of the Year’ by The Economic Times, ‘JRD Tata Corporate Leadership award’ by the All India Management Association, and many more. He has also been inducted into the ‘Hall of Fame’ by The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India. Recently, L Catterton Asia announced the formation of a new India consumer-focused joint venture partnership with Mr. Sanjiv Mehta to develop a new investment vehicle. Mr. Mehta is serving as its Executive Chairman of India, effective 4 April 2024. Additionally, his skills and insights would be leveraged for the other global fund platforms in the Group. 

Mr. Mehta has also recently joined the Advisory Board of Accenture India.

Mr. Mehta graduated in Commerce and is a Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India. He has also completed Advanced Management Program from Harvard Business School.

P. R. Ramesh

Mr. P.R. Ramesh joined the Board as Non-Executive Independent Director from 28 July 2022.

Mr. Ramesh was the Chairman of Deloitte India, with over 40 years of experience. He also served as a member of Deloitte Global Board and Deloitte Asia Pacific Board. He has been an audit partner for a large number of Companies in manufacturing, banking and financial services, technology, media, telecommunications, energy and resources and consumer business sectors throughout his professional career.

Mr. Ramesh has been associated with various Regulatory bodies viz. SEBI Committee on Disclosures and Accounting Standards, Committee for Reforming the Regulatory Environment for doing Business in India, set up by Government of India, Technical Committee to review the form and presentation of the Balance Sheet of the Reserve Bank of India, Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority Standing Committee on Accounting issues and invitee to the Committee set up by the Reserve Bank of India, to assist in convergence to IFRS by banks and National Advisory Committee on Accounting Standards. He has also been member of Accounting Standards Board of ICAI, Vision and Restructuring Committee and Auditing Practicing Committee of ICAI and the Secretarial Standards Boards of the Institute of Company Secretaries of India.  

Mr. Ramesh is a regular speaker at various programmes and workshops conducted by ICAI, the Institute of Internal Auditors, RBI, CII, SEBI and other professional bodies in India and abroad, on matters of professional interest.

Mr. Ramesh graduated in Commerce from Osmania University, Hyderabad and is a Fellow Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India.

Mr. Goh Choon Phong joined the Board as Non-Executive Non-Independent Director from 12 November 2024.

Mr. Goh joined Singapore Airlines (SIA) in 1990 and has held senior management positions in Singapore and overseas with the Company. He joined SIA’s Board on 1 October 2010 and was appointed Chief Executive Officer on 1 January 2011.
 
Mr. Goh is on the Board of SIA Engineering Company and is the Chairman of Budget Aviation Holdings, which owns and manages SIA’s low-cost subsidiary Scoot. He is a member of the National University of Singapore Board of Trustees and an Independent Director on the Board of Mastercard Incorporated. In addition, Mr Goh is a member of the MIT Presidential CEO Advisory Board, made up of CEOs from leading companies in a variety of industries around the world.

 Mr. Goh has received many awards including Centre for Aviation’s Asia-Pacific Airline CEO of the Year award in 2015, CEO Lifetime Achievement Award from the Airline Passenger Experience Association, as well as the Eisenhower Global Innovation Award from the Business Council for International Understanding. He was named Outstanding Chief Executive Officer of the Year in the Singapore Business Awards 2017, Person of the Year by Orient Aviation magazine in 2018, and Best Chief Executive Officer for companies with USD 1 billion or more in market capitalisation at the 2019 Singapore Corporate Awards.

Mr. Nipun Aggarwal joined Air India in January 2022 after leading the acquisition of Air India for Tata Sons. As Chief Commercial Officer, he now leads several important functions at Air India, including aircraft acquisition and financing, product development, strategy and planning, sales and marketing, loyalty, revenue management, network planning and scheduling, strategic procurement, strategic alliances and M&A. He is at the forefront of driving transformation, change management and merger integration activities across the Air India group. Mr. Aggarwal is also the chairman of Air India SATS Airport Services Private Limited (AISATS) and a member of the board of directors for Air India Express, AIX Connect and Tata Electronics. 

Mr. Aggarwal has more than 28 years of experience across industries and has held multiple roles across corporate finance, M&A, financing, strategy, business development and operations.

Prior to Air India, Mr. Aggarwal worked as Senior Vice President at Tata Sons, where he played a pivotal role in the strategic transformation of several Tata group companies between 2017 and 2022 as part of the Group Chairman and Group CFO Office. Mr. Aggarwal led several marquee acquisitions and corporate restructuring projects at Tata Sons. He has also served on the board of several Tata group companies including Tata Housing, Tata Value Homes, Tata Projects, Tata Power Odisha Discoms and Tata Urban Infrastructure.

Mr. Aggarwal has also worked in investment banking with Bank of America Merrill Lynch, in corporate banking at Standard Chartered Bank, and as Commercial Advisor with BP PLC. He started his career with Larsen & Toubro as Graduate Engineer Trainee.

He holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Management from IIM Calcutta and Bachelors in Electricals Engineering from Delhi College of Engineering. He likes to travel and play badminton in his free time. He is married and has two kids.

Captain Basil Kwauk has been appointed as the Chief Operations Officer of Air India. With over 25 years of experience in the aviation industry, Captain Kwauk brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to his role. With a deep understanding of operational excellence, he is focused on enhancing Air India’s capabilities to deliver a world-class travel experience.

Captain Kwauk brings extensive management experience from his tenure at Singapore Airlines, where he has held several key positions in the Head Office as well as several Subsidiaries and JVs.

Prior to his secondment to Air India, he was serving as the Deputy Vice President of Regulatory and Technical in the Flight Operations Division where he was concurrently appointed as the Chairman of the Board of Singapore CAE Flight Training, which is a Joint venture between SIA and CAE. He has also held several leadership roles covering Flight Operations Training and Operations.

His role at Air India marks his second stint in the country, following a four-year tenure at Vistara between 2017-21. During his time at Vistara, he served as Senior Vice President of Flight Operations and played a crucial role in developing key operational processes. He oversaw the rapid expansion of the airline which includes the Entry-Into-Service of the B787 Widebody jet and the launch of International Operations. During the COVID Crisis, he was appointed as the Director of Crisis and oversaw the shutdown and restart of the entire Operations in Vistara. His other overseas stint included a secondment to Great Wall Airlines, China in 2006.

His extensive experience includes flying a wide range of aircraft types including Airbus aircraft such as A320, A330, A340-300/500, as well as Boeing models such as B737, B747-400, B777 and B787.

In his new role at Air India, Captain Kwauk is responsible for overseeing the airline's operational functions. His leadership is expected to play a crucial role in Air India's ongoing transformation and growth under the Tata Group's stewardship.

As Air India continues its transformation journey, including the ongoing refresh and retrofit programs across both narrowbody and widebody aircraft, Captain Kwauk plays a key role in ensuring seamless execution. His leadership is instrumental in equipping the airline with cabin products and operational efficiencies that align with Air India’s vision of offering a best-in-class experience to its customers.

With a proven track record in aviation operations, Captain Kwauk continues to refine processes that reinforce Air India’s commitment to safety, reliability, and customer satisfaction, ensuring the airline remains a preferred choice for travelers worldwide.

Captain Kwauk holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical) from the National University of Singapore, where he graduated with Second Class Honors (Lower). His academic foundation in mechanical engineering enhances his comprehensive understanding of aviation operations.

In his role as Chief Customer Experience Officer, Mr. Rajesh Dogra is responsible for customer experience for Air India. He is deeply engaged in service transformation initiatives at Air India and is building a robust customer services framework which is enhancing customer experience at all touchpoints. Highly passionate about excellence in customer services, Mr. Dogra has spearheaded various large public services transformation programs in India as well as abroad and won many awards.

Mr. Dogra has over 28 years of rich experience in large scale public services delivery, eGovernance, business operations, project management, IT driven service transformation and people management. He is a Tata veteran and before moving to Air India in August 2022, he was the Global Program Director of Passport Seva Program at Tata Consultancy Services (TCS). He set up and, for over 10 years, managed India's most iconic passport program for Ministry of External Affairs, which led to massive transformation of Indian passport services globally. During the initial phase of his career, Mr. Dogra worked with a public sector financial institution where he managed operations and service delivery for North India as well as for NRIs globally.

Mr. Dogra completed his master’s degree in financial management from NMIMS Mumbai and graduated from Hansraj College, Delhi University. He has also completed several management development programs at TCS, IIM Ahmedabad, TMTC Pune and INSEAD.

Captain Manish Uppal is an alumnus of Mount St Mary's School, Delhi Cantt, Delhi and has over 9,000 hours of incident and accident-free flight time. He has piloted multiple aircraft types in his career, including the ATR and Airbus 320. He has held Type Rating Instructor (TRI) and Designated Examiner (DE) Approvals on the A 320. 

In his 20 years of experience (the majority of it in management roles) in civil aviation, Captain Uppal has worked as a pilot and trainer on short and medium-haul domestic and international flights, set up airline training and operations functions and led the start-up team to secure the Scheduled Commercial Operator Licence for AirAsia India, which marked the re-entry of Tata Group in airline business after many decades. He has also successfully implemented many digital and sustainable solutions to drive safety and efficiency in flight operations. 

At Air India, he manages the airline's flight operations. He will implement the Vihaan.AI Charter for Flight Operations to support the planned fleet expansion while ensuring that safety, security, regulatory standards, and compliances are not compromised.  

He was part of the team that evaluated the acquisition of Air India by Tata Sons and played a crucial role in reviewing and analysing the Air India Operations. He is part of many transformation initiatives across Air India and its subsidiary airlines. 

Captain Uppal has completed many prestigious Tata Group courses to enhance his management skills, including the Tata Group Strategic Leadership Seminar conducted by professors at Harvard and the Tata Business Excellence Assessor Program. He is a trained Human Factors expert who has created and conducted crew resource management courses.

Sanjay Sharma joined as Air India's Chief Financial Officer after a three-decade-long career spanning corporate finance, investment banking, and real estate.

Before joining the organisation, Mr. Sharma was the Chief Financial Officer of Tata Projects Limited, where he played a significant role in providing stability to the finance function, forming the Finance Risk Organisation, and meeting the company's capital requirement. He was also the Chief Financial Officer of Tata Realty and Infrastructure Limited, responsible for Finance (Accounts, Financial Control, Treasury and Tax), Procurement, IT, and Internal Audit functions. He was also Managing Director and Head of Equity Capital Markets at Deutsche Bank Group and had a 14-year stint with Merrill Lynch in Hong Kong and Mumbai.

He is credited with managing over 150 transactions, totalling over USD 50 billion, in equity raising for Indian corporates, on both Indian and international stock markets. He started his career with Larsen & Toubro as an engineer in the design department.

He has been a key contributor to industry bodies, including serving as a member of the Primary Market Advisory Committee of SEBI, a member of the Capital Markets Committee of FICCI and CII, and Chairman of the Association of Investment Bankers of India.

Mr. Sharma is an alumnus of the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad, and holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the National Institute of Technology, Karnataka, Surathkal.

He is passionate about long-distance running and has earned marathon running’s greatest prize: the Six Star Medal for completing all six major marathons. He is married and has two daughters.
