Air India sends mobile notifications through WhatsApp whenever possible. If a WhatsApp message cannot be delivered, we'll automatically send the same notification by SMS instead.

Notifications are sent to the contact details provided in your booking:

  • Email — to the email  address provided during  booking
  • WhatsApp and/or SMS — to the mobile number provided, including international numbers with  the correct country code
  • Push Notifications — if you have the Air India mobile app installed and notifications enabled

For important travel updates, Air India may send notifications across more than one channel, such as email and WhatsApp, to help ensure you receive the information in a timely manner. If WhatsApp delivery is unsuccessful, an SMS may be sent automatically as a fallback.

To ensure you receive all notifications without interruption, make sure you:

  • Provide a valid email address
  • Enter your mobile number with the correct country code (e.g. +91 for India)
  • Review your contact details before completing your booking

If a travel agent makes the booking on your behalf:

  • Ensure your personal email address and mobile number are added to the booking
  • If only the agent's contact details are recorded, you may not receive updates directly
  • You can add  your email address or mobile number at any time via Manage Booking on the Air India website / mobile app
