Terms & Conditions
These Terms and Conditions (“Terms and Conditions”) of Maharaja Club (“Programme”) explain the nature and scope of the Programme and governs the participation of a member (“Member”). By participating in the Programme, Member represents and warrants that he/she has full legal capacity, competency, and authority to agree and bind himself / herself to these Terms and Conditions. The Terms and Conditions are subject to change, without any prior intimation and subject to sole discretion of Air India from time to time. Any additional terms and conditions as provided on the website www.airindia.com shall be applicable to Members in addition to these Terms and Conditions.
- Maharaja Club is Air India's frequent flyer programme envisaged to reward individuals travelling frequently on services of Air India, Star Alliance Partner Airlines, and Maharaja Club Non-Airline Partners (as may be notified from time to time).
- These Terms and Conditions sets out the contractual relationship between Air India and each Member of Maharaja Club.
- The Terms and Conditions affect a Member's rights as a member of the Programme. These must be read before a prospective member quotes his/her intent to participate in the Programme. Enroling in Maharaja Club is considered as an acceptance of these Terms and Conditions.
a. Air India means Air India Limited, having its registered office at Block 4, Vatika One on One, Sector 16, NH 48, Gurugram-122007, Haryana.
b. Maharaja Club Programme or Maharaja Club or Programme means the Air India’s frequent flyer programme under the name “Maharaja Club”.
c. Maharaja Club Member or Member or you means an individual who has applied for membership of Maharaja Club in one’s own personal and individual capacity and who has been, (consequent to Air India’s acceptance of such request,) allotted/issued a Maharaja Club ID in his/her name.
d. Maharaja Club Membership refers to enrolment in Air India’s official frequent flyer program, Maharaja Club. This program allows registered members (“Members”) to earn and redeem Maharaja Points based on eligible flight activity and other qualifying transactions as determined by Air India. Membership is subject to the terms, conditions, and policies set forth by Air India and may include various tiers—such as Red, Silver, Gold, and Platinum - each offering distinct benefits and qualification criteria.
e. Maharaja Club Account means the individual membership account created under Air India’s Maharaja Club frequent flyer program. This account is used to track a member’s activity, including flight accruals, earned Maharaja Points, redemptions, tier status, and any other benefits or privileges associated with the program.
f. Maharaja Points means the points earned or accumulated by the Member for travel undertaken on services of Air India, Star Alliance Partner Airlines, and Maharaja Club Non-Airline Partners, or such other services as may be notified from time to time on www.airindia.com
g. Maharaja Club ID means the unique 9-digit number assigned to an individual Member of Maharaja Club.
h. Maharaja Club Membership Digital Card or Digital Card means the electronic image of the Membership Card issued to a Maharaja Club Member.
i. Maharaja Club Tier means level of membership of Maharaja Club, by virtue of a member’s engagement and loyalty in the Programme, for which, such Member gets additional benefits. Tier Status in Maharaja Club is determined solely based on Maharaja Club Tier Points. Maharaja Points, including those earned through Air India, Star Alliance partners, or non-airline partners, do not contribute to Tier Status evaluation.
j. Maharaja Club Reward(s) or Rewards means either Award Flights or Cabin Upgrades, which can be obtained by a Member by redeeming Maharaja Points earned, as set out on www.airindia.com.
k. Bonus Maharaja Points means the Maharaja Points rewarded by Air India over and above the base Maharaja Points earned by a Member. Such reward of Bonus Maharaja Points is purely at the discretion of Air India and these Maharaja Points do not contribute to the Tier Status of the Member.
l. Tier Points means the Points eligible to be counted for calculation towards Tier Status. These Tier Points cannot be redeemed or utilized. Tier Points earned in rolling 365-days shall be considered for tier upgrade or tier retention. Maharaja Points or other Bonus Maharaja Points are not eligible to be counted towards Maharaja Club Tier Points.
m. Maharaja Club Data means information personal to a member, which has been provided to Air India or is processed by Air India in relation to such member’s Maharaja Club account.
n. Maharaja Club Customer Support means the Customer Support Team set up for the purpose of receiving & responding to members’ concerns raised via our customer support channel at www.airindia.com/in/en/contact-us/customer-support-portal.html or phone calls on Maharaja Club toll free numbers as available on www.airindia.com. This channel facilitates Maharaja Club Members with enquiries and a host of services including redemptions & upgrades.
o. Loss means losses, costs, damages, injuries, accidents or claims (whether direct or indirect) suffered by Members in connection with the provision of services or Rewards.
p. Personal Data means any information about an individual that can be used to identify them – for instance, name, contact information, preferences, etc.
q. Special Category of Personal Data means Personal Data about an individual revealing racial or ethnic origin, political opinions, religious or philosophical beliefs, or trade union membership, genetic data, biometric data for the purpose of uniquely identifying a natural person, data concerning health, or data concerning a natural person’s sex life or sexual orientation, and financial data.
r. Processing and Processed refers to the obtaining, using, recording, altering, sharing, storing or deleting data in electronic or physical form.
s. Sector means a city pair, between which a direct scheduled flight operates with an unchanged flight number.
t. Maharaja Club Partners or Programme Partners means airline partners (including Star Alliance Partner Airlines,) and Non-Airline Partners which include but are not limited to financial and insurance institutions, car rental, entertainment, hotel, lifestyle, publishing, health, retail & telecommunication or other categories of companies who either provide services to Maharaja Club members by reason of their Maharaja Club ID or provide opportunity to their customers to earn or redeem Maharaja Points on their transactions with the Maharaja Club Partners or to convert their own programme reward points to Maharaja Points.
u. Award Flight means a redemption ticket issued to a Maharaja Club Member by Air India upon redemption of an appropriate and commensurate portion of Maharaja Points or Complimentary Ticket Vouchers. Air India shall determine the amount, structure, availability, process, and other criteria for Award Flight redemption, including the number of Maharaja Points required for each redemption. The number of Maharaja Points required for an Award Flight is subject to modification, withdrawal, or restriction at Air India’s sole discretion, with or without prior notice. Award Flights are also subject to availability, applicable taxes, fees, and surcharges, which must be borne by the Member.
v. Booking Class means the rules and restrictions of a ticket, including flexibility, refundability, and upgrade eligibility.
w. Qualifying Flight means an Air India flight undertaken against the purchase of a revenue ticket, in a booking class, that is eligible for earning of Maharaja Points.
x. Eligible fare for the purpose of accrual of Maharaja Points means component of fare paid by the Member on which points will be accrued. Maharaja Points are accrued on base +YQ (fuel surcharge) paid by the Member.
y. Qualifying flight activity means flight operated by Air India that is eligible to extend the validity of all Maharaja Points by two years. To be considered a qualifying activity, the flight must meet the following criteria: a) Only flights operated by Air India are eligible. Flights operated by Air India Express, Star Alliance Partner Airlines or code-share partners are excluded. The flight must be a revenue ticket purchased either entirely with cash or with a combination of Cash + Points.
z. Loyalty Fraud includes fraud, dishonesty, deceit in general. Fraudulent activities include, but are not limited to the following:
a) Knowingly providing incorrect information with regards to a Maharaja Club account
b) Attempting to accrue Maharaja Points for sectors that have not been flown or are not eligible for Maharaja Points
c) Attempting to accrue Maharaja Points on Non-Revenue Tickets/redemption flights or for booking classes that are not eligible for Maharaja Points
d) Altering Air India or Air India Partner documents to accrue Maharaja Points
e) Attempting to accrue Maharaja Points for sectors flown by any person or another Maharaja Club member unless authorised.
f) Selling, bartering or purchasing Maharaja Points or an Award Flight, including attempting to sell Maharaja Points or an Award Flight through internet-based sales or auctions or as an SME or Travel Agent or through any other medium/platform
g) Purchasing or accepting an Award Flight ticket at a discounted price from travel agents, middlemen and touts or any other Maharaja Club member.
h) Using or attempting to use stolen or counterfeit tickets on Air India or the Star Alliance Partner Airlines
i) Knowingly benefitting from the Fraud or Misconduct of another member or individual
- Each individual member can maintain only one Maharaja Club ID with a unique registered email and mobile number along with full expanded name as it appears on the passport, without initials which will be linked to the Maharaja Club Account.
- Maharaja Club Accounts with duplication of name, email or mobile, shall stand suspended and are liable to be terminated. Bona-fide Maharaja Points and Bonus Maharaja Points, in such duplicate accounts can be transferred and credited to the sole surviving account at the discretion of Air India after due diligence to establish identity. Enrolment & bonus Maharaja Points which is one time activity cannot be availed twice and hence shall not be transferred to the “survivor” account after merger.
- In case a member has multiple accounts, a separate account termination request must be submitted for each Maharaja Club account from the registered email address associated with the account to be terminated.
- Once the membership ID is terminated, the balance Maharaja Points (if any) cannot be redeemed.
- Maharaja Club is designed and offered to Air India patrons in their individual capacity (and not for organizations, small businesses, SMEs, travel agents, or commercial entities). The Programme is intended solely for personal, non-commercial use and is not available for commercial purposes.
- Membership and participation in the Maharaja Club may be prohibited or restricted in some countries. Nothing in these Terms and Conditions should be read to override or circumvent any such foreign laws. Any restrictions based on local laws will apply accordingly.
- Eligible individuals can enrol themselves in Maharaja Club by submitting the enrolment form online. An applicant will be regarded as a Member for the purposes hereof on completion of the formalities of enrolment and subject to terms of the Programme.
- New Members will receive a digital membership card with a unique nine-digit Maharaja Club ID upon enrolment after verification of member’s unique email, and OTP sent on the member’s unique mobile phone number.
- Gold and Platinum Maharaja Club members may receive physical membership cards on tier upgrade, renewal and adjustments as per the terms and conditions. Members must ensure their profile is updated with the latest contact information and address to receive the physical membership cards.
- Individuals aged between 2 years to 18 years can be only enrolled in one parent/guardian account as minor members. Only the parent/guardian may operate the Maharaja Club account of minor members and provide information on their behalf. Individuals aged 18 years or above can be enrolled as regular members, except wherever prohibited by law.
- A member shall be eligible to enrol a maximum of 4 Minors from their valid Maharaja Club account. Each minor shall be enrolled with an email ID different from the registered e-mail ID of the enrolled parent or legal guardian. Any information provided in association with the Loyalty account of the minor shall only be provided by the parent/guardian of the minor.
- Minors enrolled as Maharaja Club Members by their parents/legal guardians are required to provide their consent to continue as an independent Maharaja Club member upon attaining 18 years of age. This consent is mandatory to access the Maharaja Club account and for availing the benefits thereof.
Welcome Kits for Maharaja Club Members
- Only Maharaja Club Members who have been upgraded to or retained the Maharaja Club Gold tier on or after 1st September 2025 are eligible to receive a welcome kit (“Eligible Members”). Only Maharaja Club Members who have been upgraded to or retained the Maharaja Club Platinum tier on or after 1st November 2025 are eligible to receive a welcome kit (“Eligible Members”). The members who receive a complimentary tier upgrade are not eligible for Gold or Platinum welcome kits. Air India reserves the right to add/remove further categories of members to be eligible to receive welcome kits, which will be communicated through official channels of Air India from time to time.
- Details of Eligible Members will be shared with third-party vendors for the production and delivery of welcome kits. The usage of data for this activity is governed by Air India and Maharaja Club Terms and Conditions as well as Air India Privacy Notice available on www.airindia.com
- Maharaja Club may also deliver welcome kits from time to time to selected Maharaja Club Members as and when they attain or renew a certain tier status. This is not a guaranteed member benefit and is at the sole discretion of Air India and Maharaja Club.
The welcome kits will be sent to the Eligible Members residing within India as per the updated and registered address in the Maharaja Club account at the time of tier upgradation/renewal. It is the sole responsibility of the Eligible Member to ensure that the address is complete and updated in the Maharaja Club account on the date of Tier Upgrade/Renewal. - Air India will not be responsible for the non-delivery of welcome kits due to errors in the address of the Eligible Member.
- In case of any concerns, Eligible Members must reach out via the Customer Support Portal or contact the Customer Service Centre:
a. Within 20 days of delivery of welcome kit, or
b. Within 30 days of tier upgrade or renewal, whichever is earlier. - Eligible Members are solely responsible for the safekeeping and protection of their physical membership card.
- Air India and Maharaja Club do not accept any responsibility or liability for delays, or the delivery of damaged welcome kits or their components.
- The welcome kit components are not guaranteed to be complete or error-free. No liability is assumed for any errors or omissions in the contents/components of this welcome kit. Air India and Maharaja Club do not accept responsibility for any loss or damage arising from the use of this welcome kit or its components.
- Any communication, whether electronic or physical from Air India or Maharaja Club is intended only for the person or entity to which it is addressed and may contain confidential and / or privileged information. If a Maharaja Club member has received such communication in error, please notify Air India immediately; in case of e-communications, please also delete the message from your system.
- Any unauthorized disclosure, copying, distribution or use of the welcome kit and its components is strictly prohibited and will result in strict legal action.
- The welcome kit and its components are non-transferable and are intended solely for the personal use of the Eligible Member.
- The welcome kit and its components have no cash value and cannot be exchanged for cash or any other benefits.
- Air India and the Maharaja Club programme reserve the right to amend, modify, or update the terms and conditions of this activity at any time, without prior notice. These terms and conditions are supplementary to, and do not override, the general Terms and Conditions available at https://www.airindia.com. Air India reserves the right to interpret, apply and communicate these terms and conditions. All decisions made by Air India shall be final and conclusive in each case.
- These terms and conditions are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of India. Any disputes arising out of or in connection with these terms and conditions shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in New Delhi, India.
- Maharaja Points serve as the base credit units awarded to Members for transactions with Air India or Maharaja Club Partners.
- Members are required to provide their Maharaja Club ID at the time of reservation and present their correct 9-digit Maharaja Club ID when using Air India or any Maharaja Club Partner services to ensure that Maharaja Points earned are credited to their account. The correctness of the Maharaja Club ID is the sole responsibility of the Maharaja Club Member.
- Maharaja Points will be accrued to a Member’s Maharaja Club ID only for the travel undertaken by self on the flights and under eligible booking classes under Maharaja Club.
- Maharaja Points awarded for travel on a sector are dependent on eligible fare paid by the Member (base fare+ YQ (fuel surcharge)). For connecting flights, which require change to another flight number, the Maharaja Points earned shall be calculated for each sector separately within the trip.
- It is the Member's responsibility to check that the correct Maharaja Club ID is updated on the boarding pass while travelling.
- In case of a ticket with multiple sectors, the points accrued for a particular sector travelled will be as per the fare prorated for that sector (as per airlines policy) and the member tier.
- Maharaja Points can only be accrued for flight and non-flight transactions carried out by an individual Maharaja Club Member, regardless of who pays for the ticket or transaction.
- Maharaja Points cannot be exchanged for cash.
- A Member will be credited with the appropriate number of Maharaja Points for transactions (as specified on www.airindia.com, or as may be notified separately) when the Member completes his / her travel on any flight on Air India, Star Alliance Partner Airlines, in booking classes specified from time to time or for using products / services of other non-airline partners. Charter flights are excluded.
- Enrolment Bonus Points are only credited post completion of first accrual on Air India Revenue flight.
- Air India reserves the right to debit the account of a Member for Maharaja Points if credited incorrectly. Such deduction may be informed to the member accordingly.
- In the event of any upgrade, (against upgrade voucher, Maharaja Points, Upfront Upgrades, Upgrade Plus or as a privilege) the Maharaja Points will be credited for the originally booked class of travel in which the member was ticketed and not for the upgraded class of travel. Bonus Maharaja Points, (if any) applicable during an offer period will be credited according to the eligible fare paid for the original booking and member tier at the time of booking and not on any upgrade. Maharaja Points are not accrued on payment for ancillaries including seat selection, excess baggage etc.
- It is expressly agreed and understood that the onus of proving due completion of travel to qualify for accrual & credit of Maharaja Points shall rest solely with the member. Air India will, in most cases credit its members’ accounts with accrued Maharaja Points. However, it is each members’ responsibility to ensure that Maharaja Points are properly credited. Where a member contends that Maharaja Points have been earned but not credited, or in cases where Air India deems verification is required, Air India reserves the right to insist upon identity proof & validation or certification of flight activity or partner transaction, from the member, including but not limited to copies of ticket, boarding pass for flights claimed to have been flown or copies of receipts or similar documentation verifying any transactions claimed to have been performed.
- Transfer of Maharaja Points from a member's Maharaja Club ID to another account in a different frequent flyer programme, and vice versa, is not allowed.
- Maharaja Points earned for flight transactions are as follows:
- Maharaja Points are rewarded for travel in First Class, Business Class, Premium Economy & Economy Class Cabins on Air India & on Star Alliance Partner airlines in booking classes specified from time to time.
- No Maharaja Points will be earned for travel undertaken on tickets issued under industry discount, agency discount, barter or Award Flights (made using Complimentary Ticket Voucher or Maharaja Points), infant fares and other special discount tickets as specified by Air India or airline partners from time to time. Maharaja Points will not be earned on staff ticket and on codeshare/interline flights that are not a part of the Star Alliance Partner Airlines network.Award Flights booked in O, I, X and E Booking Classes on Air India will not be eligible for accrual of Maharaja Points. If any Air India itinerary has any sectors that are booked in one of these classes, those flight sectors on Air India will be deemed ineligible for Maharaja Points accrual.
- The following tickets are not eligible for accrual of Maharaja Points -
- Award Flights booked using Maharaja Points only (in case of tickets booked using combination of Maharaja Points and cash, the cash component will be eligible for accrual of points)
- Industry discount tickets
- In addition, some fares or tickets, including those sold over the internet, at the discretion of Air India may be excluded from the eligibility for accrual of Maharaja Points
- In case of any Flight disruption, if the member is accommodated to other airlines, the member will not be able to earn points in Maharaja Club.
- The accumulation of Maharaja Points does not entitle Maharaja Club members to any vested rights with respect to any Rewards. Award Flights shall be valid to destinations served both at the time of issuance of the Award Flight and at the time of departure and neither Air India nor its partners shall be liable for any schedule changes that result in the cancellation of service to any destination, subsequent to booking of the Award Flight.
- Maharaja Points accrued, Upgrade certificates and privileges neither constitute property of the member nor are transferable other than as specified & permitted by the Maharaja Club rules of Air India.
- To ensure credit of Maharaja Points, the member must make all his bookings in the same name as provided in the Maharaja Club membership profile. Both First Name & Last name should completely match the name on Maharaja Club ID for accruals.
- Only certain specified transactions with each individual Programme Partner will be deemed eligible for Maharaja Points accrual. Individual Programme Partners' terms and conditions and programme rules apply.
- Maharaja Club Members can transfer and receive Maharaja Points into one’s own Maharaja Club account from partners associated with the Maharaja Club, for partner services availed for self only.
- For information on Maharaja Points accrual rates for Air India and all partner airlines, members should refer the online Points Calculator for accrual levels.
- Consequent upon the hire or use of the services of another party with whom Air India has agreements / alliances / arrangements for accrual of Maharaja Points. In all cases, credit of partner Maharaja Points will be subject to the terms of the agreement / alliance / arrangement between Air India and such other party. The relevant Terms and Conditions of such agreements / alliances / arrangements will be available on the website of respective partner who will separately communicate it to the Members.
- Some Programme Partners may deny or disallow certain categories of their members from transferring Maharaja Points earned in their programme to their Maharaja Club ID.
- Members must travel or use the products and services offered by the Programme Partners to receive accrual credit of Maharaja Points. For unused tickets, unconsumed products or returned products and services, no credit of Maharaja Points will be received.
- Members are only eligible for credit with one frequent flyer programme for each flight or transaction. Where a member attempts to accrue Maharaja Points or credits or attempts retroactive credit with more than one loyalty programme for the same flight or transaction, the Maharaja Points or credits rewarded for the flight or transaction, in part or full, may be forfeited and the member shall be blacklisted.
- All partner Maharaja Points once transferred and credited into the account will be treated as normal Maharaja Points for the purpose of redemption. None of the partner Maharaja Points shall qualify as Tier Points.
- When using a codeshare flight that is operated by an Air India partner airline, points accrual will be based on the operating airline's booking class and accrual multipliers . Therefore, accrual rates may differ and there may also be cases when points are not accrued on certain flights with partner airlines. For eligible flights, members will need to check with the operating airline.
- Partner Maharaja Points may also be credited to a member’s account if, the member is also a member/participant in the loyalty program of another party with whom Air India has any agreement/alliance/arrangement and requests transfer of loyalty Maharaja Points from that loyalty program to Maharaja Club.
- For enquiries regarding reward points transferred to Maharaja Points from a non-airline partner's/banking partner programme to Maharaja Club, members should check with their respective non-airline partner's office where the original transfer request was made. Maharaja Points can be transferred from a non-airline partner programme to Member's Maharaja Club ID; however, once transferred, the points cannot be reversed.
- A member may also be credited with Maharaja Points on specific flights in specific classes of Star Alliance partners as may be notified from time to time. Members must ascertain that a flight & booking class of an Alliance which they wish to travel on, qualifies for accrual of Maharaja Points at the time they wish to travel. Member should approach respective partner airline for seeking information on booking class prior to the booking. Points for Star Alliance flights will be awarded based on the distance travelled and accruals may also be withdrawn at any time. Code Shared Flights (Non-star partner) are not eligible to earn Maharaja Points.
- Maharaja Points credited to a member's account will remain valid until redeemed, expired, or until the account is merged, expired, or terminated, whichever occurs first. These points are valid for redemption for a period of 24 months plus the month of travel, after which they will expire on the last day of the 24th month if not redeemed. However, if a member undertakes a qualifying flight with Air India within this 24-month period, all Maharaja Points in the member's account will be extended for an additional 24 months from the date of the latest qualifying flight. This rule applies to flights undertaken on or after 2 April 2024. It should be noted that Vistara flights taken on or before 11 November 2024 will not be considered for the extension.
- In case a Maharaja Club member is a member of more than one Star Alliance Partner's loyalty programs, member can choose to receive credit in relation to flight undertaken in only & any one Frequent Flyer Programme account. The account, in which the member wishes to have his / her activity credited, will remain the same for all the sectors of a particular itinerary, ticket and PNR.
- Maharaja Club Members can also retroactively accrue, or claim missed Maharaja Points for the flight activities performed on Air India only, for up to 12 months prior to the date of retroactive filing, provided the member was eligible (for e.g. not under 2 years of age) to be a Maharaja Club member when such a flight was undertaken.
- Retro claim is also possible for Star Partner flights, provided the member was enrolled with Maharaja Club on the date of travel. The claim period may vary airline-wise (between 6–12 months for Star Alliance flights).
- Auto Accruals if Maharaja ID added in the booking: Member should reach out to customer support team within 30 days of submitting the claim online if points don’t get credited or if there is any discrepancy in the credited points.
- Member must submit the retro claim request online before raising any request to Customer Support Portal.
- The Rewards offered in Maharaja Club consist of Award Flights and Cabin Upgrades.
- Travel on Award Flights is subject to the tariff, contract of carriage, ticket terms, and re-accommodation policies of the carrier on which the travel is scheduled.
- Regarding redemption of Maharaja Points:
- Members can redeem Maharaja Points for themselves anytime if they have requisite Maharaja Points for redemption on the desired sector.
- Maharaja Points accumulated by the member must be redeemed during the validity of the membership, subject to the other terms hereof, failing which Maharaja Points will automatically lapse.
- Members can redeem Maharaja Points for their family and friends, including ones in the Family Pool, only if the below conditions are fulfilled-
- Member must be a Maharaja Club member for at least fifteen (15) days.
- A member whose Maharaja Points are being redeemed must have flown at least two (2) Air India flights in different booking reference numbers (PNRs) and these two flights must have been credited to your account.
- Such Rewards can be redeemed by the member himself, by logging into his/her Maharaja Club ID after OTP verification on registered mobile phone or email through website www.airindia.com or through Air India City booking offices or by contacting the Customer Support Team, but only from the mobile number registered in the member’s account, and clearing other security measures that Air India has in place at the time of the request for redemption.
- OTP verification on mobile phone number and email is mandatory to log-in to member’s Maharaja Club ID, redeem Maharaja Points, update address and passport details. Members are solely responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of OTP received and shall immediately notify Air India and, in any case, not later than 2 (Two) hours, in the event of unauthorised access to the OTP. Air India is not responsible for actions or loss of Maharaja Points arising out of shared OTPs and will not re-credit Maharaja Points redeemed by such use of member’s shared OTPs.
- Only the registered member can access their Maharaja Club ID for redemption and transactions. Delegating access to third parties (e.g., travel agents or assistants) via power of attorney, contract, authority letter or otherwise is not permitted.
- Members can also purchase Maharaja Points for a fee as decided by Air India time to time (currently INR 1.50 per Point). Points can be only purchased by logging-in to the account.
- Air India has the right to deduct Maharaja Points against any purchased ancillary service if not deducted automatically.
- In the unfortunate event of the passing of a Member, Maharaja Club may, at its sole discretion, transfer all or a portion of the Member’s accrued Maharaja Points to the legal heir, once the required documentation is received and verified, along with payment of any applicable fee (if any).
- To ensure a smooth and hassle-free process, the legal heir is required to be a Maharaja Club Member at the time of making the request for transfer of Maharaja Points from the deceased Member’s Account.
- The legal heir of the deceased Member may kindly submit their request through our Customer Support Portal, along with necessary documents such as:
- Government-issued Death Certificate
- Maharaja Club ID or registered email ID of the deceased Member
- Maharaja Club ID of the legal heir
- Proof of relationship between the legal heir and the deceased Member
- Maharaja Club may, at its discretion, request additional documents if needed to verify the claim.
- In cases where multiple legal heirs exist, the Maharaja Points will be transferred to the legal heir whose request is first received by Maharaja Club through the Customer Support Portal, subject to submission of satisfactory documents.
- Please note that only Maharaja Points accrued up to the date of the Member’s passing will be eligible for transfer. Tier Points, benefits, vouchers, and any other privileges linked to the deceased Member’s Maharaja Club Account will not be transferred and will stand forfeited.
Misuse and Validity of Points
- Maharaja Points must be valid when an Award Flight or Cabin Upgrade is issued. For this reason, members should ensure that ticketing takes place before the Maharaja Points expire.
- Air India reserves the right to suspend travel on Award Flights when it suspects misuse or fraudulent issuance of the Award ticket which is not permissible under the Terms & Conditions of the Maharaja Club. Refund is not applicable in such cases.
- Maharaja Points transferred from partners are not negotiable or redeemable for cash or in any manner other than as provided in these Terms and Conditions.
- Maharaja Points once expired cannot be revived.
Redemption Rules for Children and Infants
- Booking an Award Flight for a child (2 years up to less than 18 years of age) requires the same number of Maharaja Points as that of adult. Points cannot be redeemed for child travelling alone.
- Infants under the age of two (2) years cannot be added at the time of a redemption booking. However, an infant may be added to the booking by contacting the Air India Call Centre subsequent to the completion of the redemption booking.
- Maharaja Club members are not permitted to redeem Award Flights (made using Complimentary Ticket Voucher or Maharaja Points) or Cabin Upgrades for unaccompanied minors (2–12 years) travelling alone.
- Children between 2 and 12 years of age can travel on Award tickets when accompanied by an adult.
Ticketing Conditions
- Tickets for all Award travel will only be issued for a confirmed reservation. Open-dated Award Flights are not permitted to be issued.
- Award bookings cannot be combined with Upgrade Plus & Fly Prior.
- All Award tickets shall be issued as e-tickets.
- Award tickets have no monetary refund value.
- All sectors of travel on an Award Flight must be confirmed.
- Award Flights for any domestic/international travel will be valid for one year from the date of issue of the ticket.
Cancellations, Changes and Refunds
- Upon cancellation of the Award Flight:
- The points will be refunded as per original validity.
- If cancellation is done post points expiry, then points will be non-refundable.
- Cancellation can be done by the Call Centre and Air India booking offices.
- Points will be refunded to the same Maharaja Club Account from where the points have been redeemed.
- Members have to reach out to the Customer Support team within 15 days of ticket cancellation, if points are not refunded to the member’s Maharaja Club account.
- If a member changes the booking:
- The member will be charged with the difference in Maharaja Points, if any.
- If the new fare is lower, the difference will not be refunded.
- Applicable rebooking charges will be collected.
- The change fee will be charged in cash.
- Members travelling on Award Flights with a confirmed reservation who fail to show up will be considered a no-show and the Award Flights and Maharaja Points used therein shall stand forfeited.
- If the flight has departed, a no-show member will only be liable to get the taxes as refund. Members must reach out to customer support team for refund.
- Members holding Award Flights with a confirmed reservation who wish to refund & reverse the Award Flights shall be able to do so after levy of a penalty of the Maharaja Points utilized for the Award Flights.
- Members holding Award Flights with a confirmed reservation who wish to change the date of travel shall be able to do so after levy of a monetary penalty as specified by Air India before the no-show window. These rates are subject to change without prior notice.
- Maharaja Points of completely unused Rewards may be re-credited after deduction of penalty as determined by Air India, provided the Points and the ticket are valid at the time of request. Any non-airline taxes paid will be refunded.
- Partly utilized Award Flights are non-refundable. In case of a partly utilized Award Flight, after deduction of Points for utilized sectors, the unutilized sector can be used for rebooking as per applicable terms.
- For tickets partly booked using Cash + Points, the cancellation/change rules are applicable as per the revenue ticket policy. Cancellation penalty will be deducted from cash first and then Points. For rescheduling requests, penalty must be charged in cash only.
- Maharaja Points and cabin upgrade vouchers used for ticket upgrade will be forfeited upon schedule change and/or cancellation of the ticket.
Capacity Controls and Embargoes
- Travel on Award Flight is subject to capacity controls, limiting the number of seats available for Award Flights or Cabin Upgrades on particular flights.
- Award seats may not be available on all flights or in all classes.
- Some partners may impose blackout periods when Award Flight redemption is not permitted.
- All Rewards are subject to embargo dates/flights as published on www.airindia.com
- Award Flights on Air India are issued in special booking classes (First = O, Business = I, Premium Economy = E, Economy = X).
Taxes, Fees, and Charges
- Maharaja Club Rewards are subject to levy of applicable non-airline, departure/arrival taxes, passenger facility charges and other fees, charges or taxes.
- The person utilizing the Award Flight is responsible for payment of such charges.
- For Air India/Star Alliance flights, members shall pay applicable taxes and surcharges.
- Convenience fees for award and voucher bookings may vary by channel/source.
Partner Airline Award Flight
- Partner Award Flight requests for international travel must be requested at Air India booking offices, Call Centres, or on the Air India website, subject to availability in specified classes. Reservations not ticketed within the time limit will be cancelled.
- Partner Rewards Points will only be issued to and from destinations served by Star Alliance Partner Airlines.
- Air India is not liable to make any changes/cancellation for Award Flight bookings issued by partner airlines.
- Air India shall have no liability for partner withdrawals from the program or for changes/cancellations of rewards.
- Routing and destinations for reward travel on partners are determined by the individual partner airline.
- The Reward rules are subject to modification or withdrawal at Air India’s discretion, with or without notice.
Flight Disruptions
- In the event of disruption:
- On Air India flights, members will be re-routed or rebooked on the next available Air India flight or permitted a gratis date change for future travel on the same sector.
- On Star Alliance Partner flights, members will be rebooked on the next available partner flight in eligible booking classes or permitted a gratis date change for future travel on the same sector.
- Award Flights booked are non-negotiable and non-refundable and cannot be endorsed to non-partner airlines.
Others
- Award Flights cannot be sold or exchanged. Misuse may result in block, cancellation, suspension or withdrawal.
- A member’s use of the Award Flight is subject to the Terms and Conditions of both the issuing airline and the carrier airline.
- All carriage on and tickets issued on behalf of an airline are subject to the airline’s Conditions of Carriage.
- Award Flights will only be issued to and from destinations served by Air India and/or partner airlines designated at the time of issuance and use.
- Obtaining relevant documentation (visa, permits, etc.) is the sole responsibility of the member. Air India/partners are not liable for refusal of entry or deportation.
- Reservations made to a call centre but not ticketed within the time limit will be cancelled automatically.
- Updates/changes to member bookings will be sent via email. Members must ensure their registered email addresses updated on the PNR is valid.
Redemption of Maharaja Points for upgrading Revenue & Award Flights:
- Maharaja Points earned can be used for Cabin Upgrades on Air India flights and are subject to the rules of purchased tickets. A copy of the purchased revenue ticket or passenger receipt is required for verification.
- Cabin upgrades are available for all revenue and redemption tickets except those booked in specific restricted fare classes.
- Cabin Upgrade using Maharaja Points can only be done via the Air India website/Customer Support team.
- Maharaja Points required for Cabin Upgrades are determined based on the travel segment.
- Cabin Upgrades using Points and Upgrade Vouchers are subject to availability of seats in the designated booking class (E/I/O).
- Cabin Upgrades are available only on Air India and the 24 Star Alliance Partner Airlines.
- A member can upgrade to either of the higher cabins using points. Example- A member booked in Economy class can upgrade his booking to Premium Economy/Business/First Class as per the redemption seat availability.
- Award Flight bookings (booked using Maharaja Points) can be upgraded using Maharaja Points/Complimentary Upgrade Vouchers.
- Once the booking is upgraded using Points, it can be further upgraded using Voucher/Points as per the redemption seat availability.
- After Cabin Upgrade, the ticket remains in the same booking class, only the PNR displays the upgraded class.
- Only flights marketed and operated by the same participating airline are eligible for Cabin Upgrade. Codeshare flights are not eligible for Cabin Upgrade.
- Cabin Upgrades using points & vouchers are not applicable for certain tickets involving connecting flights (if your journey includes connecting flights booked together), interline flights etc.
- Partial upgrade of some passengers within a booking is not permitted. If Maharaja Club members wish to upgrade some passengers within the booking, the commercial booking will need to be split accordingly.
- Taxes and other fees applicable (if any) for the upgraded class shall be payable by the member.
- Tickets issued against travel industry-related discount, any other discount, staff on duty, staff on leave and Complimentary Ticket Vouchers are not eligible for this feature.
- Industry/agency/barter discounted tickets are not eligible.
- When a Reward is claimed for a class of service only available on certain sectors, a lower class may be substituted by Air India or partners. Redemption level for the entire trip will be determined by the highest class flown.
- Cabin Upgrades are subject to periodic embargoes on specific sectors/flights as decided by Air India or Star Alliance Partner Airlines.
Air India Maharaja Club members upgrading on Star Alliance Partner Airlines
- Maharaja Points earned for travel using a Cabin Upgrade will be based on the original class of purchased ticket.
- Benefits of Cabin Upgrade against points on Star Alliance Partner Airlines is determined by the operating Airline’s policy.
- Maharaja Points required for cabin upgrades are determined based on domestic or international travel segments.
- Confirmed Cabin Upgrade subject to availability of seats in the designated booking class (E/I/O).
- Cabin Upgrades are available only on Air India and the Star Alliance Partner Airlines as notified on the website.
- Only one (1) segment permitted for cabin upgrade at a time.
- Cabin Upgrades are available to the next higher class of service. Double class upgrades are currently not permitted.
- After Cabin Upgrade, the ticket remains in the same booking class, only the PNR displays the upgraded class.
- Taxes and fee applicable, if any, for upgraded class shall be payable by the member.
- Tickets issued against travel industry-related discount, any other discount, staff on duty, staff on leave and redemption tickets are not eligible for the cabin upgrade.
- Use of these rewards must be made in accordance with conditions of carriage, procedures and terms and conditions detailed on www.airindia.com.
- Only flights marketed and operated by the same participating airline are eligible for upgrades. Codeshare flights are not eligible.
- Partial upgrade of some passengers within a booking is not permitted. If Maharaja Club members wish to upgrade some passengers within the booking, the booking will need to be split accordingly.
- Maharaja Points and/or Tier Points earned for travel using a Cabin Upgrade Voucher will be based on the original booked commercial class.
- Cabin Upgrade requests on Star Alliance Partner Airlines will be governed by operating airlines policies.
- Standby for upgrade is not permitted.
- Requests for seat assignments, special meals and amenities should be made directly with the operating carrier and the same will be made available at the sole discretion of the operating carrier.
- The number of Maharaja Points required to upgrade is based on when the request is submitted and is subject to change.
- If you wish to make changes or cancel your Star Alliance upgrade award request, please contact the operating carrier.
- If a segment of your Star Alliance Partner Airlines itinerary is cancelled, the upgrade request will also be automatically cancelled. Points will be automatically redeposited 24 to 48 hours after the cancellation.
At the Airport
- Seat Availability Confirmation
Before redeeming any Cabin Upgrade Voucher, please confirm seat availability with the airport check-in staff. If the Cabin Upgrade Voucher is applied without prior confirmation and the upgrade is not processed, the Cabin Upgrade Voucher will be forfeited. Air India will have no liability in such cases. - Upgrade Request Window
You may request for redemption of a Cabin Upgrade Voucher at the check-in counter within 2 hours prior to the scheduled departure time. Redemption is subject to seat availability. - Voucher Presentation
Once seat availability is confirmed by the check-in staff, please present an active Cabin Upgrade Voucher from your member dashboard, accessible via the Air India mobile app or website. Keeping it readily available will help ensure a smooth redemption process. - Redemption Process
To initiate Cabin Upgrade Voucher redemption:- Select the active voucher from your member dashboard
- Click “Yes, Proceed” to continue
- Enter the passenger’s PNR and last name
- Choose from the eligible flight segment for the upgrade
- Enter the OTP sent to your registered mobile number and email within the specified time
- Upgrade confirmation
Once verified, an upgrade confirmation will appear on-screen. The check-in staff will then issue the upgraded boarding pass.
Alternate Channel (Air India Customer Support Team):
You may also contact the Air India Customer Support team to request redemption of a Cabin Upgrade Voucher. This is subject to seat availability in the applicable upgrade class (E/I/O) and must be done at least 2 hours prior to the scheduled departure time. GST and fee (if any) will be applicable.
Terms and Conditions
- Eligibility & Redemption Channels
- Cabin upgrade vouchers may be redeemed either at the airport check-in counter or in advance through the Air India Customer Support team.
- All upgrades are subject to seat availability in the applicable upgrade class.
- Maharaja Club membership eligibility and all applicable terms and conditions must be fulfilled for successful Cabin Upgrade Voucher redemption.
- If a Maharaja Club Member is travelling with an infant and chooses to redeem the Cabin Upgrade Vouchers, the fare difference for the infant must be paid separately.
- Redemption Timelines
Members may call the Customer Support team and request for redemption of Cabin Upgrade Vouchers up to 2 hours before the scheduled departure time. Within the final 2 hours prior to departure, Cabin Upgrade Vouchers can only be processed at the check-in counter at the airport. - Voucher Validity
- Vouchers are valid only for travel on or before the expiry date mentioned on the Cabin Upgrade Voucher.
- A confirmed ticket is required to redeem a Cabin Upgrade Voucher.
- Cabin Upgrade Vouchers are applicable and valid only for domestic travel on Air India-operated flights.
- Cabin Upgrade Vouchers cannot be redeemed for domestic segment of mixed itineraries that include both domestic and international travel.
- Cabin Upgrade vouchers cannot be used for complimentary ticket voucher bookings Cabin upgrade voucher is only applicable on revenue and redemption bookings (booked using Maharaja Points).
- Upgrade Scope
- When upgrading at the airport or through the Air India contact center, member can use the voucher for a single-use upgrade to the immediate next higher cabin class as follows:
- Economy to Premium Economy
- Economy to Business (only on flights where Premium Economy is not available)
- Premium Economy to Business
- Upgrades beyond the immediate next cabin class (e.g., upgrading from Premium Economy to Business after already upgrading from Economy) are not permitted, regardless of payment method (cash, points, additional vouchers, etc.)
- Once upgraded (at the airport or through the Call Centre), further upgrades are not permitted, regardless of payment method (cash, points, additional vouchers, etc.).
- When upgrading at the airport or through the Air India contact center, member can use the voucher for a single-use upgrade to the immediate next higher cabin class as follows:

- Vouchers may be used by the Maharaja Club Member for friends or family.
- Eligibility Criteria for the Maharaja Club member to redeem vouchers for Friends or Family: The Maharaja Club Member should be ‘active’, i.e.,

- Must have flown at least 2 revenue-based Air India flights under 2 different PNRs, with both flights credited to their Maharaja Club Account

- Only 1 Cabin Upgrade Voucher is required per passenger, per sector, for the upgrade to be processed.

- Cabin Upgrade Vouchers are not valid for infants.
- Points Earnings & Baggage Allowance
- Maharaja Points will be earned based on the original booking class, and not the upgraded class.
At the airport
For upgrades processed using Cabin Upgrade Vouchers at the airport, baggage allowance and lounge access will remain as per the original cabin class. Inflight meal of upgraded cabin class will be subject to availability.
Through the Call Centre
For upgrades processed using Cabin Upgrade Vouchers through the Call Centre, baggage allowance, lounge access and inflight meal of the upgraded cabin class will be applicable.
- Maharaja Points will be earned based on the original booking class, and not the upgraded class.
- Refunds & Changes
- Cabin Upgrade Vouchers cannot be sold, exchanged, bartered, or redeemed for cash.
- Once used, Cabin Upgrade Vouchers cannot be reinstated in the event of a change, cancellation, or ticket reissuance initiated by the Maharaja Club Member.
- Refunds and cancellations will be governed by the fare rules of the originally booked class (RBD).
- Any applicable taxes, fees, or surcharges for the upgrade are the responsibility of the Maharaja Club Member.
- General Conditions
- All other Maharaja Club Terms & Conditions shall apply.
- Cabin Upgrade Voucher redemption is subject to limited inventory and is available on a first-come, first-served basis. If the upgraded seats are sold out, redemption of Cabin Upgrade Voucher will not be possible, and regular fares will be applicable.
- Vouchers are non-transferable.
- No other vouchers, corporate discounts, or direct benefits are applicable on Cabin Upgrade Vouchers.
- Fly Prior Service, Upgrade+ , Upfront upgrades cannot be clubbed with bookings upgraded using Cabin Upgrade Voucher.
- Air India reserves the right, at any time and without prior notice, to add, alter, modify, change, or withdraw any or all these terms and conditions, or to replace the Cabin Upgrade Voucher with another, whether similar or not or completely forfeit the same.

- The redemption of Cabin Upgrade Vouchers shall be governed by the laws of India. In case of any dispute, the courts of New Delhi shall have exclusive jurisdiction.
Complimentary Ticket Vouchers issued through co-branded credit cards are credited to the primary cardholders (“Cardholders”) who meet the eligibility criteria defined in the Credit Card features and benefits listed on the respective bank websites (“Offer”).
a) Voucher Benefit
- The Complimentary Ticket Voucher entitles the Cardholder to receive a waiver of the base fare component on a one-way ticket for travel on Air India’s domestic network only. Connecting flights will require vouchers as per number of sectors involved.
- The Cardholder is responsible for paying all applicable charges, including but not limited to, taxes, surcharges, and other levies, applicable on the ticket at the time of booking.
- Voucher may be used by the Maharaja Club Member for friends or family.
- Eligibility Criteria for the Maharaja Club member to redeem voucher for Friends or Family: The Maharaja Club Member should be ‘active’, i.e.,
- Must have completed 15 days of membership as a Maharaja Club Member; and
- Must have flown at least 2 revenue-based Air India flights under 2 different PNRs, with both flights credited to their Maharaja Club Account
b) Voucher Usage Restrictions
- Complimentary Ticket Vouchers cannot be exchanged, sold, bartered or refunded for cash.
- Complimentary Ticket Vouchers are not valid for infants.
- Vouchers are valid only for travel on or before the expiry date mentioned on the Complimentary Ticket Voucher.
- All bookings made through Complimentary Ticket Vouchers that are deemed fraudulent will be cancelled by Air India, at its sole discretion and the Maharaja Club Member will be denied boarding against such booking. Air India may at its sole discretion take appropriate action in this regard.
c) Voucher Validity & Notification
- The Complimentary Ticket Voucher credited to the Cardholder is valid only for a fixed period (3,6, or 9 months) from the date of issuance and cannot be extended.
- The eligibility notification will be sent to the Cardholder’s registered e-mail address within 15 working days of fulfilment of the criteria as outlined in the respective Card Features and Benefits.
- Once the Complimentary Ticket is credited, the Cardholder will receive a confirmation email at their registered e-mail address.
- Neither Air India nor the issuing bank will be responsible for undelivered notifications due to incorrect email addresses or delivery failures for any reason.
d) Voucher Redemption
- The Cardholder must validate their Maharaja Club Account details and Voucher particulars with the Air India Customer Support team before proceeding with any booking.
- The Complimentary Ticket Voucher is subject to seat availability in select fare classes. Air India or the issuing bank do not guarantee seat availability.
- Each Complimentary Ticket Voucher is single-use only and cannot be reused once redeemed.
- Business and Premium Economy Complimentary Ticket Vouchers may be used for travel in a lower cabin class if seats in the higher cabin class are unavailable, or if the aircraft configuration does not include the higher cabin. Such changes will be made only with the member’s consent.
- Bookings under this policy can be made exclusively through the call center. Applicable convenience fees, as determined by the call center, will be charged.
- All benefits and fare rules will be applicable as per the cabin class in which the ticket is booked.
- Once a booking has been confirmed in a lower cabin, it cannot be upgraded to a higher cabin, even if redemption seats become available or the aircraft configuration changes.
f) Changes post Booking
- Once booked and ticketed under a particular Cardholder’s name, the ticket is non-transferable.
- Changes to any ticket booking are not allowed.
- In case of cancellations or no-shows, the Complimentary Ticket Voucher will be deemed utilized.
- Statutory taxes will be refunded once the member contacts us through Customer Support, and the refund will be processed within 7 working days of cancellation/no-show.
g) Proof & & ID Requirements
- Maharaja Club Members must present the Air India e-ticket along with proof of payment for bookings made using Complimentary Ticket Voucher to complete the check-in process.
- A valid Government-issued photo ID must be presented in accordance with Air India's Conditions of Carriage. Failure to do so will result in cancellation of the booking.
h) General Terms and Conditions
- All other Maharaja Club Terms & Conditions shall apply.
- Complimentary Ticket Voucher redemption is subject to limited inventory and is available on a first-come, first-served basis. If the redemption seats are sold out, redemption of Complimentary Ticket Voucher will not be possible, and regular fares will be applicable.
- No other vouchers, corporate discounts, or direct benefits are applicable on Complimentary Ticket Vouchers.
- Bookings made using Complimentary Ticket Vouchers cannot be upgraded by any means.

- All members shall receive a monthly statement (summary) of the Maharaja Points and Tier Points balance. However, Air India is not liable for any failure to send these updates.
- Air India reserves the right to determine the number of mailings of the account statement.
- Members may track their Maharaja Points accruals and redemptions by logging on the website www.airindia.com.
- Members are responsible for updating their personal details and address. Air India is not responsible for undelivered or misdirected mail. Before providing an email ID, should ensure it is not from an official or organizational server that may block emails from Maharaja Club or mark them as spam. Members should also enable the “receive email” option in their profile.
- Only Maharaja Club Members who have been upgraded to or retained the Maharaja Club Gold tier on or after 1st September 2025 are eligible to receive a welcome kit (“Eligible Members”). Only Maharaja Club Members who have been upgraded to or retained the Maharaja Club Platinum tier on or after 1st November 2025 are eligible to receive a welcome kit (“Eligible Members”). The members who receive a complimentary tier upgrade are not eligible for Gold or Platinum welcome kits. Air India reserves the right to add/remove further categories of members to be eligible to receive welcome kits, which will be communicated through official channels of Air India from time to time.
- Details of Eligible Members will be shared with third-party vendors for the production and delivery of welcome kits. The usage of data for this activity is governed by Air India and Maharaja Club Terms and Conditions as well as Air India Privacy Notice available on www.airindia.com.
- Maharaja Club may also deliver welcome kits from time to time to selected Maharaja Club Members as and when they attain or renew a certain tier status. This is not a guaranteed member benefit and is at the sole discretion of Air India and Maharaja Club.
- The welcome kits will be sent to the Eligible Members residing within India as per the updated and registered address in the Maharaja Club account at the time of tier upgradation/renewal. It is the sole responsibility of the Eligible Member to ensure that the address is complete and updated in the Maharaja Club account on the date of Tier Upgrade/Renewal.
- Air India will not be responsible for the non-delivery of welcome kits due to errors in the address of the Eligible Member.
- In case of any concerns, Eligible Members must reach out via the Customer Support Portal or contact the Customer Service Centre:
- Within 20 days of delivery of welcome kit, or
- Within 30 days of tier upgrade or renewal, whichever is earlier.
- Eligible Members are solely responsible for the safekeeping and protection of their physical membership card.
- Air India and Maharaja Club do not accept any responsibility or liability for delays, or the delivery of damaged welcome kits or their components.
- The welcome kit components are not guaranteed to be complete or error-free. No liability is assumed for any errors or omissions in the contents/components of this welcome kit. Air India and Maharaja Club do not accept responsibility for any loss or damage arising from the use of this welcome kit or its components.
- Any communication, whether electronic or physical from Air India or Maharaja Club is intended only for the person or entity to which it is addressed and may contain confidential and/or privileged information. If a Maharaja Club member has received such communication in error, please notify Air India immediately; in case of e-communications, please also delete the message from your system.
- Any unauthorized disclosure, copying, distribution or use of the welcome kit and its components is strictly prohibited and will result in strict legal action.
- The welcome kit and its components are non-transferable and are intended solely for the personal use of the Eligible Member.
- The welcome kit and its components have no cash value and cannot be exchanged for cash or any other benefits.
- Air India and the Maharaja Club programme reserve the right to amend, modify, or update the terms and conditions of this activity at any time, without prior notice. These terms and conditions are supplementary to, and do not override, the general Terms and Conditions available at https://www.airindia.com. Air India reserves the right to interpret, apply and communicate these terms and conditions. All decisions made by Air India shall be final and conclusive in each case.
- These terms and conditions are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of India. Any disputes arising out of or in connection with these terms and conditions shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in New Delhi, India.
- Maharaja Club Members may provide Personal Data to Air India while procuring the services under this Program, including but not limited to, at the time of signing-up for the Program, updating their information in the ‘My Account’ section, contacting us for support or making flight bookings. Such Personal Data may also include Special Category of Personal Data such as preferences or medical information, as provided by the Member.
- By becoming a member, the individual consents to:
- Air India processing Member’s Personal Data in line with the Privacy Notice and the terms mentioned herein;
- Air India sharing Member’s Personal Data with the Loyalty Partners;
- Sharing Member’s Personal data with affiliated companies of Air India;
- Transferring Member’s Personal Data to other countries;
- Providing Member’s Data to immigration and customs authorities;
- Receiving communications from Air India or its subsidiaries via email, post, SMS, WhatsApp, or telephone, as per Member’s preferences.
- Receiving physical communications at the postal address provided by the Member, including but not limited to surprise gifts, membership welcome kits, or any other materials as deemed appropriate by Air India at its sole discretion.
- In case members wish to opt out of communication, they should notify the Customer Support Team in writing. Alternatively, they can manage their preferences online under 'My Account' or unsubscribe from emails.
- If the member does not consent to the processing of his/her data as set out in these Terms and Conditions in whole or in part, then the Member should contact Air India and inform them.
- All data related to a Member kept by Air India is considered to be confidential information and will not be released unless it is used for the purposes provided herein. Subject to applicable laws, Air India may be directed by law, any court, enforcement agencies or the government and related bodies to disclose data related to a Member. Members understand and agree that in such instances Air India shall be legally obligated to share such data with relevant agencies or bodies.
- Air India reserves the right to refuse access to Personal Data to any person claiming to be a Member if Air India is uncertain of such person's identity or authority.
- By participating in the Programme, Members agree that Air India shall collect, maintain, use and share their data, including, without limitation, names, addresses, account and other information in accordance with Air India’s Privacy Notice and the terms mentioned herein. Air India’s Privacy Notice is merely a statement of administrative protocol; it is not a contract, nor is it made, or intended to be made, a part of the Programme, nor does it create any contractual or legal rights.
The Maharaja Club membership is a privilege that may be suspended, revoked, or terminated at any time, for any reason, at the sole discretion of Air India, without any compensation. The reasons for suspension, revocation, or termination include, but are not limited to:
- Fraudulent Activities: If a Member is reasonably suspected or found to be engaging in fraudulent activities on the Maharaja Club ID or Maharaja Points.
- Circumvention of Terms: A circumstance where a Member intentionally engages in a pattern of activity or behaviour that, in the reasonable opinion of Air India, is intended to circumvent or work around these Terms and Conditions, or the terms and conditions of any program partners.
- Abuse of Terms: Any abuse by a Member of any of these Terms and Conditions, any additional applicable terms and conditions, or any benefit, privilege, or reward associated with Maharaja Club.
- Misrepresentation: Any misrepresentation by a member to Maharaja Club, its affiliates, participating partners, or suppliers, or to any entity associated with or participating in Maharaja Club.
- Automated Participation: Any attempt to participate in Maharaja Club via script, macro, or other automated means.
- Violation of Laws, Rules and Regulations: Any act that is contrary to applicable laws, rules and regulations, these Terms and Conditions, the Conditions of Carriage of Air India, or any public policy. If Air India is of the opinion that a Member has violated or breached any law, rule or regulation, Air India may unilaterally suspend or terminate the Maharaja Club Membership of such Member without assigning any reason.
- Infringement of Rights: Any act that infringes the rights of Air India, other Members, or any third party.
- Unauthorized Acquisition of Information: Acquiring or attempting to acquire another Member’s ID, password, or other personal information without obtaining the consent of such Member.
- Intimidation, Threats, and Defamation: The Maharaja Club Membership of a Member shall stand terminated, if such Member engages or attempts to engage in any act which includes, but is not limited to:
- using violence, coercion, insults, or intimidating, inappropriate behaviour or threatening behaviour towards the passengers, employees or staff of Air India; or
- publication of false information and/or information discrediting the business reputation of Maharaja Club and / or Air India, on the internet and/or published news sources; or
- legal action, i.e., filing of any suit, claim, action, complaint, or proceeding against or by Air India or the Tata Group; or
- disparaging Air India, Maharaja Club or the Tata Group; or
- behaving in an unruly, unsafe, or aggressive manner which is considered objectionable by Air India; or
- behaving in an unruly, unsafe or aggressive manner which the Air India staff or crew or other passengers may reasonably object; or
- failing to comply with any instructions or directions of the crew or ground staff, including but not limited to failing to cooperate or interfering with the crew member’s duties, refusing to follow instructions to board or disembark the aircraft, instructions with respect to smoking, alcohol, drug consumption, security and safety or use of electronic equipment; or
- verbal confrontation or physical assault with ground staff, crew members or other passengers or customers; or
- insulting the modesty of ground staff, crew members or other passengers or customers, uttering any word, making any sound or gesture, or exhibiting any object, intending that such word or sound will be heard, or that such gesture or object will be seen by others, or intruding and/or invading upon the privacy of ground staff, crew members or other passengers or customers; or
- assault or use of force on ground staff, crew members or other passengers or customers, intending to outrage or knowing it to be likely that it will thereby outrage the modesty of the ground staff, crew members or other passengers or customers; or
- committing the following acts of sexual harassment against ground staff, crew members or other passengers or customers –
- Physical abusive behaviour, through means of contact and/or advances involving unwelcome and explicit sexual overtures, inappropriate touching, grabbing, etc.,
- Making sexually coloured remarks,
- Attempt to disrobe,
- Showing pornography, or Demand or request for sexual favours; or
- Behave in a manner which seeks to cause other passengers to engage in or cooperate with unruly, unsafe or aggressive behaviour that may endanger the aircraft, or any person or property of Air India; or
- Behave in a manner which causes or is likely to cause discomfort, distress, inconvenience, damage or injury to other passengers, ground staff, the crew or property.
Membership Under Investigation
- Cooperation with Investigations: Members must unequivocally comply with Air India’s reasonable requests for cooperation in investigations related to their membership and activities in Maharaja Club.
- Sharing of Account Information: During such audits or investigations, a member’s account information may be shared with third parties contracted by Air India to assist in these processes.
- Suspension of Benefits: Until the conclusion of the investigation (including the determination of membership cancellation), Air India may, without notice to the Member, suspend the accrual of points, redemption of Award Flights, and other associated rewards through the Member’s account.
- Actions Following Discrepancies: If an audit or investigation reveals discrepancies or possible violations of these Terms and Conditions, or any other applicable terms and conditions, Air India may, without notice to the Member and in addition to other available remedies:
- Delay the processing of award redemption requests,
- Cancel any outstanding award redemptions,
- Withdraw all Maharaja Points wrongfully accrued (whether by mistake, fraud, discrepancy, or violation of the Terms and Conditions),
- Withhold statements and/or suspend the member’s account, and
- Terminate the member’s membership from Maharaja Club
- Return of Co-Branded Financial Cards: Members may be required to return any co-branded financial cards to the card issuer. Members who continue to hold a co-branded financial card will not be entitled to receive any Maharaja Points or services.
- Suspension and Forfeiture of Points: If membership is suspended, revoked or terminated, any accrued Maharaja Points shall also be suspended. If the member is permanently excluded from membership or has their membership terminated in Maharaja Club, any accrued Maharaja Points shall be revoked and forfeited without entitlement to compensation. In such cases, the Member shall be liable for all damages, litigation, and transaction costs incurred by Air India or Maharaja Club Partners.
- Termination of Duplicate Accounts: For the avoidance of doubt, Air India reserves the right to terminate and suspend any duplicate accounts and cancel the Maharaja Points balance in the account and/or redemption of any Award Flights (as applicable).
- Ineligibility for New Account: A Member whose account has been terminated due to violation of the terms and conditions will not be eligible to create a new Maharaja Club or be enroled in any Maharaja Club account except at the sole discretion of Air India.
- Review of Associated Accounts: If a member is determined to have violated these Terms and Conditions, the accounts of individuals associated with the Member may also be subject to review for similar activities and their membership may also be subjected to termination.
- Legal Recourse for Fraud: If a Member is found to have engaged in activities in violation of the terms and conditions or in fraudulent activities as described above; Air India may choose to pursue a legal action against the Member and in such case, the Member shall indemnify and hold harmless Air India, affiliates and their respective officers, directors, shareholders, employees, agents and future · successors and assigns from and against any claims of any kind or nature, including any liabilities, losses, damages, costs and expenses (including, without limitation, all reasonable fees, disbursements and expenses of counsel), fines, and penalties arising from any act, omission or misrepresentation the Member makes relating in any manner to Maharaja Club.
- Maharaja Club information on www.airindia.com and through newsletters: Air India regularly reviews and updates the information on its web pages, Maharaja Club Terms and Conditions and other materials, including but not limited to marketing and promotional materials. Despite its best endeavours, it is possible that some of the information is not accurate or could have become outdated. Air India, therefore, does not accept any responsibility or liability for such information, and does not guarantee that the information provided is up-to-date, correct and complete. Apart from this, Maharaja Club Terms and Conditions apply.
- Any communication - electronic or physical from Air India or Maharaja Club is intended only for the person or entity to which it is addressed and may contain confidential and / or privileged information. If a Maharaja Club member has received such communication in error, please notify the sender immediately; in case of e-communications, please also delete the message from your system. Any unauthorized disclosure, copying, distribution or use of the message is strictly prohibited, and if done, will result in strict legal action. The message is not guaranteed to be complete or error free. No liability is assumed for any errors and / or omissions in the contents of this message. Reasonable precautions have been taken to ensure that the message is virus-free. However, Air India does not accept responsibility for any loss or damage arising from the use of this message or attachments. All the information contained here is correct and current at the time of publication and is subject to change without prior notice.
- Members agree to defend, indemnify, and hold Air India and its affiliates and their directors, officers, employees, consultants, and agents harmless from and against any and all claims, actions, demands, liabilities, losses, damages, judgments, settlements, costs and expenses, including reasonable attorneys’ fees arising out of or in connection with Maharaja Club.
- All rights, titles, and interest in, and to Maharaja Club, including all intellectual property rights arising out of or in connection with the Maharaja Club, are owned by or otherwise licensed to Air India14.2 By enroling for Maharaja Club, the Members waive all their rights and authorize and consent Air India to use their name and such details as may be required.
- Air India may request Members to submit suggestions and other feedback, including bug reports, relating to the Maharaja Club from time to time (“Feedback”). Air India may freely use, copy, disclose, publish, display, distribute, and exploit the Feedback it receives from Members without any payment of royalty, acknowledgement, prior consent, or any other form of restriction arising out of your intellectual property rights. Members agree that while providing Air India with Feedback:
- The Feedback does not and shall not violate, infringe, or misappropriate any intellectual property right or other proprietary right including the right of publicity or privacy of any person or entity;
- The Feedback does not and shall not contain any viruses, corrupted data, or other harmful, disruptive, or destructive files or content; or
- The Feedback (A) does not belong to any other person to which Members do not have any right, (B) does not threaten the unity, integrity, defence, security or sovereignty of India, friendly relations with foreign states, public order, cause incitement to the commission of any cognisable offence, prevents investigation of any offence, or is insulting another nation, (C) is not defamatory, grossly harmful, blasphemous, paedophilic, invasive of another’s privacy, discriminatory based on gender, ethnically objectionable, disparaging, relating to, or encouraging money laundering or gambling, libellous, hateful, racist, violent, obscene, pornographic, unlawful, harmful to children, or (D) otherwise offensive, objectionable, or restricts, or inhibits, any other person from using or enjoying Maharaja Club.
- Air India reserves the right to modify the Maharaja Club Reward structure at any time without prior notice. Changes may include adjusting the Maharaja Points required for specific rewards, setting redemption blackout periods, limiting Award Flight availability on certain flights or routes, and altering journey requirements for rewards. Additionally, Air India may revise or discontinue Programme Partner affiliations, modify redemption options, adjust the validity period of Maharaja Points, introduce membership fees, and amend ticketing procedures or other program rules.
- Air India reserves the right to revise a member’s tier status based on the applicable qualifying criteria. Upon upgrade or downgrade, members may continue to use their existing membership card until a new card is issued (Gold Tier/ Platinum Tier). All privileges will be extended in accordance with the member’s updated tier eligibility.
- Membership in the Red Tier will not be expired, provided there is at least one flight accrual transaction in members account within thirty-six (36) months of previous accrual transaction.
- It is not possible to book Star Alliance flights or codeshare flights using combination of Cash + Points. Also, you cannot use a combination of Cash and Points to upgrade your cabin class.
- Air India reserves the right to terminate at any time, without giving any notice, throughout the world, or in a specific country, in which Air India is associated with its Programme Partners, the right of any or all Members to earn or redeem Maharaja Points.
- Air India reserves the right to terminate Maharaja Club or to change the Terms and Conditions, rules, regulations, policies and procedures, rules, benefits, privileges, conditions of participation or Maharaja Points accumulation structure, Award Flight structure, add an unlimited embargo (blackout) dates and/or flights, or limit the number of Award Flights available to any or all destinations; the Maharaja Points redemption structure, in whole or in part - at any time, with or without notice, even though changes may affect the value of the Maharaja Points already accumulated.
- Air India reserves the right to interpret, apply and communicate the Terms and Conditions as posted on www.airindia.com. All decisions made by Air India shall be final and conclusive in each case.
- Air India reserves the right to make promotional offers and Bonus Maharaja Points by Air India or Maharaja Club Partners selectively available to certain members at any time, based on flight activity, geographic locations, program participation, or other factors that may be determined at the sole discretion of Air India.
- Air India reserves the right to levy a service charge for each change requested by the member that may or may not necessitate re-issuance of Award Flight ticket. Charges may be levied for any adjustment or cancellation of redemption request and/or Award Flight Ticket.
- Air India may assign these Terms and Conditions in favour of any of its subsidiaries, subcontractors or appointed agents without any notice to the Member, to carry out any of its obligations herein. Air India shall not be responsible to the Member for any delay in performance or non-performance of the obligations herein by it or its sub-contractors and / or agents due to causes beyond its reasonable control.
- In case of a Tier Downgrade, members will not receive the Upgrade Vouchers. Example- If a member is downgraded to Silver Tier from Gold, member will not receive the voucher.
- Fee waivers are applicable only to eligible Maharaja Club members and do not extend to any other passengers included in the same PNR. For domestic flights, itinerary change waivers are available to Silver, Gold, and Platinum members, while cancellation waivers are available to Gold and Platinum members. For international flights, itinerary change waivers are available to Gold and Platinum members.

The member will be entitled to privileges in accordance with their new tier eligibility.
Lounge Access
- Lounge access is available at select airports, subject to eligibility and availability.
- Lounge access is available to Maharaja Club Platinum and Gold Members only.
- Each Platinum or Gold Member may invite one accompanying guest.
- Lounge access is available at the departure airport when travelling on Air India marketed and operated flights.
- The accompanying guest must be travelling on an Air India or Star Alliance partner flight on the same day from the same airport.
- For in-transit members, lounge access is available only if the onward journey is on an Air India marketed and operated flight.
- At select international airports, Platinum and Gold Members may access the lounge at the time of departure or while in transit to board an Air India flight.
Member Responsibilities
- It is the responsibility of individual Members to keep their mailing/postal address and email address up to date. Any communication sent to Members unique email or postal address will be regarded as delivered when emailed or posted to the address on record. Air India will not be responsible for any delayed, misdirected or lost mail. Members can update their mailing/postal address and email address online in their Maharaja Club Profile by themselves at any time. However, if changes are requested through the Customer Service Centre (CSC), proof of the new address such as Adhaar Card/Passport may be requested for verification.
- The terms of Maharaja Club control an individual membership and personal individual participation in the Programme and no covenants of law or in equity shall be implied or incorporated.
- Any failure to follow Maharaja Club Terms and Conditions, Air India’s contract of carriage, Air India‘s fare rules, any abuse of the Maharaja Club privileges, any violation of law, rule or regulation, any conduct detrimental to the interests of Air India, any fraudulent activity or attempted fraudulent activity, or any misrepresentation of any information furnished to Air India by any member, or anyone else acting on the member’s behalf, may result in the termination by Air India of such member’s Maharaja Club Membership in addition to the loss or cancellation of accrued Maharaja Points, Rewards or benefits, or both, or the loss of other programme benefits and privileges. Such terminated members shall not be eligible to participate in any aspect of Maharaja Club and shall not be eligible to enrol with new accounts.
- Members shall be responsible for payment of airport taxes, security, insurance surcharges (as applicable) and all other fees, taxes, surcharge or charges levied by whatsoever authority in respect of the requested Travel / other Rewards.
- Air India will not be held liable for any loss, damage or expense incurred by the member however caused, through any unauthorized disclosure or unauthorized use of their web account (including log in details).
- Members shall not license, sell, transfer, or assign their rights, obligations, or covenants under these Terms and Conditions in any manner without Air India’s prior written consent.
Partner & Third-Party Responsibility
- All travel under this Programme shall be subject to the Terms and Conditions incorporated in or by reference to the respective tickets issued by Air India or any other Star Alliance Partner Airline concerned, as the case may be, along with the timetables/schedules of Air India or any other airline concerned in effect at the time of travel.
- Maharaja Club Partners will endeavour to ensure the availability of services and benefits under Maharaja Club. Maharaja Club Partners are independent entities, and Air India shall not be held responsible or liable for:
- any product and service offered or promised by a Maharaja Club Partner.
- any actions or consequences that may arise due to usage of products/services of a Maharaja Club Partner.
- the nature or quality of any products or services provided by Maharaja Club Partners.
- any acts or omissions of Maharaja Club Partners.
Liability & Remedies
- Air India shall not be liable for any loss or damage, whether direct or indirect, resulting from the termination or change of the terms and conditions of Maharaja Club or any of the services, benefits, facilities or arrangements which are available to Maharaja Club Members pursuant to Maharaja Club (including without limitation, the withdrawal of any Maharaja Club Partner(s) from participation in Maharaja Club, or the withdrawal or limitation of any of the services, benefits, facilities or arrangements which are available to Members pursuant to Maharaja Club). Maharaja Points will have no value, either monetary or non-monetary upon termination of Maharaja Club Membership.
- Members, who have accumulated Maharaja Points, may not rely on the continued availability of inventory and seat availability for redemption of Award Flights or Cabin Upgrades, as this availability is regulated and capacity controlled. Availability of Award Flights or Upgradable cabin dynamic and may not be constant or necessarily open to all destinations or on all flights, at any given time.
- If Air India or any of Maharaja Club Partners improperly deny a Member any benefit under Maharaja Club, as solely determined by Air India in its own discretion, Air India’s liability in connection with such denial shall not exceed the value of such benefit. Air India may compensate such member by re-crediting the value of Maharaja Points due for accrual or redemption by the member or provide any other alternative benefit as determined by Air India in its sole discretion. For the avoidance of doubt, no monetary or non-monetary compensation shall be provided to the Member.
- If Air India or Star Alliance Partner Airlines improperly denies a member an accrual or benefit, the liability will be limited to the equivalent of that accrual or benefit.
Legal & Enforcement
- These Terms and Conditions shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of India and the courts of New Delhi shall have exclusive jurisdiction over all issues or disputes arising out of or in relation to Maharaja Club and these Terms and Conditions.
- If any provision of these Terms and Conditions is determined by any court or other competent authority to be unlawful or unenforceable, the other provisions of these Terms and Conditions will continue to be in effect. If any unlawful or unenforceable provision would be lawful or enforceable if a part of it were deleted, that part will be deemed to be deleted, and the rest of the provision will continue in effect (unless that would contradict the clear intention of the clause, in which case the entirety of the relevant provision will be deemed to be deleted). Air India shall not (i) provide any service, or (ii) perform any action, in pursuance of these Terms and Conditions that violates applicable laws.
