How to raise a refund request?

If your ticket was issued after 25 May 2022, head to the manage booking section to request a refund. For a refund of tickets issued by the Air India city booking or airport office, kindly contact your nearest Air India reservation office.

Alternatively, if you bought the ticket from a travel agent or any other online portal, please get in touch with the respective agent’s office for a refund.

Domestic cancellation and change penalties

The cancellation charges and change penalties vary in all flying classes. Following are the cancellation and change penalties for various flying classes.

Change: A modification to the itinerary, a change in the arrival or departure date, destination, or flight number.
Cancellation: If the passenger cancels the booking.
No show: If the passenger fails to change or cancel the booking, the penalty is charged based on the number of hours before the passenger cancels the booking.

*For non-refundable cases, tax will be credited back to the source.

Note: Please provide all the ticket numbers for a swift issue resolution.

*A no-show and cancellation/change penalty will apply in case of a no-show.

*In compliance with CAR, Section 3-Air Transport Series “M” Part II Rev 2, dated 27 Feb 2019, the cancellation charges shall not be more than the basic fare, plus fuel surcharge.

*A ticket can be refunded within two years from the date of issuance.

Change / cancellations are permitted free of charge for up to 24 hours from the time of booking provided the change/cancellation is done for up to 7 days prior to the first leg of departure.

For changes

If passenger changes the booking, passenger will be charged the difference in fare, if any, applicable when the amendment is made. However if the new fare is lower than the Original fare, difference in the amount will not be refunded, but the rebooking charges as applicable will be collected.

No show window

Within no show window if a passenger cancels his/her ticket, only airport taxes will be refunded. Similarly, after the flight has departed, a no show passenger will only be liable to get the taxes as refund.

The cancellation charges and change penalties vary based on the time remaining before departure.
