Terms & Conditions
These Terms and Conditions (“Terms and Conditions”) of Maharaja Club (“Programme”) explain the nature and scope of the Programme and governs the participation of a member (“Member”). By participating in the Programme, Member represents and warrants that he/she has full legal capacity, competency, and authority to agree and bind himself / herself to these Terms and Conditions. The Terms and Conditions are subject to change, without any prior intimation and subject to sole discretion of Air India from time to time. Any additional terms and conditions as provided on the website www.airindia.com shall be applicable to Members in addition to these Terms and Conditions.
- Eligibility and Composition
- Only Members who are 18 years of age or above can become the Family Head of a Family Pool.
- The Family Head and all proposed Pool members must have accrued Maharaja Points from at least two (2) Air India revenue flights, flown on separate PNRs, prior to Pool creation.
- A Family Pool can consist only of the Family Head and Members having a qualifying familial relationship with the Head, i.e., spouse, children, parents, parents-in-law, siblings, siblings-in-law, son or daughter-in-law, grandparents, and grandchildren.
- Infants (0-2 years) are not eligible to enrol in the Programme and therefore cannot be added to the Family Pool.
- A Member cannot participate in more than one Family Pool at any time, whether as Family Head or Pool member.
- Creation and Activation
- With effect from 11th March 2026, a Family Pool can only be created through the Maharaja Club member’s authenticated login on the Air India website.
- A non-refundable fee, inclusive of applicable GST, must be paid at the time of creation. Such fee may only be paid through UPI, credit or debit card or net banking, and cannot be paid using Maharaja Points, vouchers or wallet balances.
- Upon payment of the applicable fee, the Family Head shall have a period of sixty (60) days from the date of payment (“Invitation Window”) within which invitations may be issued and re-issued to eligible Pool members.
- Each invitation link issued to a Pool ember shall be valid for fourteen (14) days from its date of issuance and shall automatically lapse thereafter if not accepted.
- The Family Head may reissue or resend invitation links to eligible Pool members during the Invitation Window; however, each link reissued shall retain a fourteen (14) day validity and no invitation shall remain active beyond the sixty (60) day Invitation Window.
- A Family Pool shall only be deemed created and active once: (a) the Family Head has successfully completed the payment of the applicable fee; and (b) at least one (1) eligible Pool member has accepted the invitation within the sixty (60) day Invitation Window.
- If no Pool member accepts the invitation within the sixty (60) day Invitation Window, the Family Pool request shall expire, and the Family Head shall be required to pay the Family Pool fee again to initiate a new Pool.
- The Family Pool creation fee is non-refundable under all circumstances, including the inability to secure a Pool member within the Invitation Window. The Family Head creating the Pool shall remain solely responsible for ensuring timely acceptance by at least one Pool member.
- Following the payment of the applicable fee and the creation and activation of the Family Pool, the Family Head may at any time invite additional eligible Pool members, however, at no point shall a Family Pool comprise more than eight (8) Pool members.
- Transfer of Maharaja Points
- From the date of activation, 100% of Maharaja Points earned from all future eligible activities by all Pool members shall be automatically transferred into the Family Head’s account.
- Maharaja Points accumulated by Pool members prior to Pool creation shall remain in the Pool members’ individual accounts.
- Once transferred, Maharaja Points shall not be transferred back to the Pool member or to any third party under any circumstances, including upon exit, termination, or removal from the Family Pool.
- Only the Family Head shall be entitled to redeem Maharaja Points accrued in the Family Pool (for booking award flights & cabin upgrades) in accordance with the Programme Terms and Conditions.
- Tier Points and segments shall accrue solely to the individual Pool member and shall not form part of the Family Pool.
- Size, Tenure and Exit
- A Family Pool may consist of the Family Head and up to eight (8) contributing Members.
- Once created, a Family Pool cannot be cancelled or dissolved at the request of the Head or Pool members.
- A Pool member may exit the Family Pool only after one 1 year has elapsed from the date of joining the Pool.
- Upon exit by any Pool member, all Maharaja Points previously transferred shall remain with the Head and will not be reinstated to the exiting Pool member.
- A Member who exits from a Family Pool may not create or join another Family Pool for a period of six (6) months following the effective date of exit or removal.
- In the event all Pool members exit the Family Pool, the Family Pool shall stand automatically dissolved and the Family Head will not be able to create or join another pool for a period of six (6) months following the effective date of pool dissolution.
- Expiry and Activity Rules
- Maharaja Points transferred to the Family Head’s account will remain valid for two years.
- The validity of Maharaja Points in the Family Head’s account will be extended whenever the Family Head accrues Maharaja Points earned on revenue flights by self or contributed by any Pool Member after the creation of the Family Pool.
- Any Maharaja Points existing in a Pool Member’s account at the time of creation of the Family Pool shall continue to remain subject to their original expiry dates. The validity of such Points shall not be extended on account of any revenue flight activity undertaken by the Family Head or any Pool Member.
- Family Pools created before 11th March 2026 will have the transfer ratio automatically revised to 100%, effective 11th March 2026.
- Deceased Member Handling
- In the unfortunate event of the demise of the Family Head, Air India may, at its sole and absolute discretion, transfer all or a portion of the Maharaja Points accumulated in the Family Pool to a Member within the Pool.
- In the unfortunate event of the demise of a Member of the Family Pool, Air India may, at the request of the Head, process the removal of such Member from the Family Pool. In the event such deceased Member held any Maharaja Points in their individual account (i.e., which were not part of the Family Pool), such Maharaja Points will be transferred to the Family Pool.
- Such transfer shall only be processed upon submission and verification of documents required by Air India, including proof of death and proof of relationship.
- Air India reserves the right to decline, vary, or partially execute such transfer at its discretion. Any decision taken by Air India in this regard shall be final and binding.
- General
- Participation in the Family Pool is subject to the Programme Terms and Conditions and any additional directives issued by Air India from time to time.
- Air India reserves the absolute right to modify, suspend, or withdraw the Family Pool facility at any time, without prior notice, and without liability to Members.
- Air India’s decisions with respect to eligibility, participation, point transfer, or programme administration shall be final and binding.
- These Family Pool Terms and Conditions (“Family Pool Terms”) set out the rules governing participation in the Family Pool facility (“Family Pool”) offered as part of the Maharaja Club loyalty programme (“Programme”).
- These Family Pool Terms are to be read in conjunction with the Maharaja Club Programme Terms and Conditions. Capitalised terms used but not defined herein shall have the meaning ascribed to them in the Programme Terms and Conditions.
- By creating, joining, or participating in a Family Pool, a Member acknowledges and agrees to be bound by these Family Pool Terms, as amended from time to time at the sole discretion of Air India Limited (“Air India”).
