Lost Item Assistance | Air India

No. Lost items cannot be sent to your address or destination. They must be collected in person from the airport where they were misplaced. If you are unable to collect the item yourself, you can authorise someone to collect it on your behalf.

Some airports may charge storage or handling fees. These charges depend on the airport’s policy.

Yes. An authorised representative can collect your item. They must carry:

  • An authority letter signed by you 
  • A copy of your ID 
  • A copy of your boarding pass 
  • Their own valid ID proof

Items can be collected within three months from the date they were lost. Collection must be done during the Lost & Found desk’s operating hours at the respective airport.

No. Neither Air India nor the airport operator is legally responsible for lost items. However, we will assist you in locating them wherever possible.

Perishable items such as food, fruits, milk, chocolates, and pickles are disposed of after 24 hours for safety and hygiene reasons.

As per aviation regulations, all found items, whether inside the aircraft or within the airport premises, are handed over to the airport operator’s Lost & Found department for safekeeping.
