From October 26, 2025, some Air India domestic flights will move from Terminal 3 to Terminal 2 at Delhi Airport. This change is part of managing the terminals better amid ongoing operational adjustments. Please check your flight details carefully and plan your journey accordingly to avoid any inconvenience.

From October 26, 2025, 60 out of 180 daily Air India domestic departures from Delhi will operate from the upgraded Terminal 2. These flights have flight numbers starting with ‘AI1XXX’ (for example, AI1737, AI1787).

Air India’s domestic flights departing from or arriving at Terminal 2 have been renumbered in four digits, staring with ‘1’ (e.g., AI1737, AI1787). This would help you easily identify the flights operating from/to Terminal 2 Delhi Airport. If you are booked on a flight which is part of this series and travelling after October 26,2025, you would be notified about this change on the contact details provided at the time of your booking.

If you are booked on an Air India ticket but your flight is operated by Air India Express then your flight would depart from Terminal 1.  These flights can be identified easily as they are numbered in four digits starting with 9 (e.g., AI 9501, AI 9550 etc.)

Terminal information would also be indicated during web check-in and on your boarding pass.

To ensure a smooth experience, Air India will be proactively notifying all guests who hold bookings for flights relocating to Terminal 2. No further action is needed except to check your flight time and terminal details again. If you have connecting flights, we request you to re-check your terminal details prior to starting your journey.

For guests with bookings involving connections between Terminal 1, Terminal 2 and Terminal 3, Delhi International Airport provides a convenient shuttle service running every 10 minutes, ensuring quick and easy connectivity between the terminals. Passengers with Reduced Mobility (PRM) and those requiring special assistance can also opt for a comfortable buggy ride between Terminal 2 and Terminal 3.

Air India customers with through-checked baggage on domestic routes and an onward boarding card will be provided a convenient, inter-terminal shuttle service to facilitate transfers between Terminal 1, Terminal 2 and Terminal 3. Baggage for these guests will be seamlessly transferred airside, eliminating the need to collect and recheck baggage during terminal transfers.

a. For changes between Terminal 2 and Terminal 3, if you miss the shuttle service or want to change terminals on foot, the terminals are situated in close proximity, requiring around 10–15 minutes of walking time.  You can follow below steps basis your itinerary,

        i. If connecting from an international flight arriving at Terminal 3 to a domestic flight departing from Terminal 2, you need to collect your baggage at Terminal 3 arrivals, go through customs to the transfer point, drop your baggage, and then proceed to Terminal 2. Alternatively, you may carry your baggage to Terminal 2 and drop it at the Air India check-in counter for next flight.

       ii. If connecting from a domestic flight arriving at Terminal 2 to an international flight departing from Terminal 3:

  • In case of through check-in, you do not need to collect baggage at Terminal 2; you can straightaway proceed to Terminal 3 for international check-in. Your baggage would be transferred by Air India from Terminal 2 to Terminal 3.
  • In case you are not through checked-in, collect your baggage at Terminal 2 and then proceed to Terminal 3 by walking or availing the shuttle.

      iii. For domestic flight connections between Terminal 2 and Terminal 3, please follow the same procedure outlined above, except that completing customs formalities is not required for domestic transfers.

b.  If you are connecting to a flight operated by Air India Express, it is recommended to use the airport shuttle service, as Terminal 1 is located at a considerable distance from Terminal 2 and Terminal 3.
