As India’s aviation network expands, so does the opportunity to make international travel more seamless for millions of Indians. Air India’s ‘Easy Connect’ initiative, launched under the Government of India’s hub-and-spoke framework, is designed to connect travellers from cities across the country to destinations worldwide through the airline’s hubs in Delhi, Mumbai and Bengaluru.
By bringing international connectivity closer home, passengers can check-in at their origin airport for their destination, complete immigration formalities before departure, and have their baggage checked through for the entire journey. The promise of this experience was evident on the inaugural flight AI1111 from Varanasi to Delhi with onward connections to 17 international destinations. Passengers shared their excitement at being able to start their international journeys from Varanasi with greater ease and confidence.
The inaugural flight was flagged off by Union Minister of Civil Aviation Shri Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu in the presence of senior government officials and Air India leadership, marking a key step in advancing the Government’s vision of strengthening India’s position as a global aviation hub.
Following its launch in Varanasi, the ‘Easy Connect’ initiative is slated to be rolled out across Ahmedabad, Amritsar, Chennai, Goa, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Kochi, Mumbai, Patna, Vadodara and Visakhapatnam, reshaping how Indians connect with the world.
