The speed of the inflight Wi-Fi is at par with the public Wi-Fi/WLAN connections available on ground. However, the actual bandwidth depends on several factors, including satellite connection to the aircraft, number of aircrafts connected to the satellite, number of customers using the service simultaneously, and the intensity of bandwidth usage onboard.

You may access the relevant network through VPN. However, the connectivity depends on your company's VPN configuration. If you face issues, please contact your IT administrator.

Wi-Fi service may be interrupted or unavailable due to any of the following reasons:

  • The aircraft passes between satellite beams, causing  temporary signal loss.
  • The aircraft is flying over a country that has not yet authorised the use of the Wi-Fi service.
  • The connectivity system is experiencing technical difficulties.
  • Satellite connections may be disrupted due to adverse weather conditions.

If the service is unavailable, please try reconnecting after some time.

Your data is safe and encrypted through Secured Socket Layer (SSL) encryption. The inflight Wi-Fi service is a public network offering; therefore, we recommend that you follow good security practices to minimise potential risks.

Air India has deployed a state-of-the-art mechanism to monitor and regulate data usage onboard to prevent misuse of Wi-Fi connectivity. The service complies with the regulatory and statutory guidelines.
