Correct and Full Name in Bookings

Passengers are required to make their bookings with their correct and full names as per the travel document presented at the airport for entry, check-in & boarding.

Domestic travel

For travel within India, add the complete name as provided in the valid photo identity card.

Middle name, if any, should be added after first or given name separated by a blank space. Given or first names submitted with a single letter is not permitted.

For example: if full name is John Doe it should be as Doe/John and not as Doe/J.

If you only have a single name as your last and first name, then repeat the name in both last and given name fields. For example: John/John. Avoid using numeric or special characters such as dash (-) and single quote (').

Documents that can be carried as proof of identity

  • Passport
  • Voter identity card issued by Election Commission of India
  • Aadhaar or m-Aadhaar issued by Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI)
  • PAN Card issued by Income Tax Department
  • Driving License issued by RTO
  • Service photo identity card issued by central or state government, public sector undertakings, local bodies or public limited companies
  • Student photo identity cards issued by government institutions or government-recognized educational institutions
  • Nationalized bank passbook with attested photograph
  • Pension card or documents with photograph
  • Disability photo ID card handicapped medical certificate issued by the respective state or UT governments and administrations

International travel

In case of international travel, the name should be entered & matched exactly as it appears on the passport.

Middle name, if any, should be added after first or given name separated by a blank space.

Given or first names submitted with a single letter is not permitted.

For example: if full name is John Doe it should be as Doe/ John and not as Doe/J.

Avoid using numeric or special characters such dash (-) and single quote (‘).

For travel to or from USA & Canada, if a passenger has just a single name, for example, Gayatri, please enter last name as Gayatri and first name as FNU to read as Gayatri/FNU.

For travel to/from Australia if a passenger has a single name, e.g., Gayatri, please enter last name as Gayatri and the first name as Unknown to read Gayatri/Unknown.

For all other international travel, please add name as mentioned in the passport. Middle name if any should be added after first or given name separated by a blank space. If the passenger has a single name, e.g., Gayatri, please enter last name as Gayatri and repeat it in the first or given name to read as Gayatri/Gayatri.
