- Two pieces to be at most 70 lb/32 kg each.
- Total dimensions (length + width + height) not to exceed 158 cm/62 in per piece.
Economy Class
- Two (2) pieces to be at most 50 lb/23 kg each.
- Combined dimensions of 2 pieces (length + width + height) not to exceed 273 cm/107 in, provided neither piece exceeds 158 cm/62 in
- One additional piece not to exceed 50 lb/23 kg for AI Maharajah Club/AI Golden Edge Club/AI Silver Edge Club/Star Alliance Gold members
Carry-on baggage
Air India permits one piece of carry-on baggage not to exceed 20 cm/8 in x 40 cm/16 in x 55 cm/22 in and 18 lb/8 kg, plus one personal item. Learn more about our cabin baggage policies.

Your journey between Canada and India may include travel on an Air India codeshare flight operated by Air Canada. As each operating carrier determines carry-on baggage allowances, Air Canada’s allowance may differ from Air India’s.

Infants (all classes): One piece of checked baggage whose three dimensions (length x breadth x height) do not exceed 45 in/115 cm plus one collapsible stroller/carry cot/infant car seat, subject to availability of space. Infants are not entitled to a carry-on bag.

Note: Baggage exceeding 203 cm/80 in will only be carried as accompanied baggage if prior handling arrangements have been made with the carrier's local office. TV can be included as a part of FBA, and for excess pieces and sizes.
Free Baggage Allowance for interline journeys on a single ticket
For travel from/to Canada, the carrier whose code appears in the Carrier Box of the first flight of the ticket is known as the "selecting carrier". The selecting carrier's baggage policy applies to the entire itinerary of a single ticket. Whilst interline journeys are not sold on this website, you may have purchased an interline journey from an Air India ticket office or through a travel agency or travel website. Your baggage allowance will be indicated on your itinerary receipt.
Example 1: Toronto-AI-London-AI-Delhi round-trip journey. Air India's checked baggage allowance applies. Carry-on baggage is determined by the operating carrier on each flight, in this case, Air Canada Toronto-London, and Air India London-Delhi.
Example 2: Calgary-AC-Toronto-AI-London-AI-Ahmedabad round-trip. Air India's checked baggage allowance applies. Carry-on baggage is determined by the operating carrier on each flight, in this case, Air Canada Calgary-London and Air India London-Ahmedabad.
Example 3: Chennai-AI-Delhi-AI-London-AI-Montreal round-trip. Air India's checked baggage allowance applies. Carry-on baggage is determined by the operating carrier on each flight, in this case, Air India Chennai-London and Air Canada London-Montreal.
Example 4: Vancouver-UA-Chicago-AI-Hyderabad round-trip. United's checked baggage allowance applies. Carry-on baggage is determined by the operated carrier on each flight, in this case, United Vancouver-Chicago and Air India Chicago-Hyderabad.

Cancellation and No-show Penalties
Reservations booked on www.airindia.com may be cancelled within 24 hours of purchase without a penalty if purchased more than seven days before departure. Within seven days of departure, applicable fare rules apply. Cancellation penalties depend on the fare purchased. Most fares attract a cancellation and/or no-show penalty.
