For International Travel

If you are travelling to India, for changing planes at an intermediate airport, in major centres like Delhi and Mumbai, then the passport validity remains the same. Although you need a different visa called a transit visa. And the requirement for this type of visa might vary based on the layover time and city.

Transit Visa Requirements

A transit visa is mandatory in the following scenarios:

  • If you are leaving the airport perimeter before your onward international transfer.
  • If your connecting flight is in a different terminal and you have to check in baggage.
  • If you have a layover of less than 72 hours (Note: Layovers exceeding 72 hours require an appropriate Tourist or Entry Visa).
